Just some background, I had a disc injection and it turns out the doctor did not clean the skin good enough and pushed the staph into the disc. Had a PICC line in order to kill the infection, just not sure if any of you have had a similar situation. Thanks.

From what I've seen, it's hit or miss with medical doctors and their spinal injections/operations.

Those with back problems should first seek treatment from an experienced chiropractor.  I've injured my back multiple times over the last 35 years and a few times I thought my weight training days were over.  Chiropractic fixed me every time.  Some say it's voodoo medicine, but it's not.  Use every option possible before letting a doctor cut into you.

From what I've seen, it's hit or miss with medical doctors and their spinal injections/operations.

Those with back problems should first seek treatment from an experienced chiropractor.  I've injured my back multiple times over the last 35 years and a few times I thought my weight training days were over.  Chiropractic fixed me every time.  Some say it's voodoo medicine, but it's not.  Use every option possible before letting a doctor cut into you. 

The best chiropractor in the world cannot fix degenerative disk disease. They can however, reduce the pain for a short while.

it sucks big time i had a picc line for over 6 months back in 2001. every 8 hrs i had to inject this junk into my cephalic vein. caused massive headaches till i took yogurt to counter the side effect of the antibiotic. there's always some kind of problem when you take a ride on the medical merry-go-round.

That’s weird, I didn’t know the headaches were from the antibiotics. I had to infuse every 8 hours as well,  but only have had it in 6 weeks. I’m not sure if it did the trick, as I’m feeling a little sweaty now which would lead me to believe it did not kill the bacteria. If that’s the case, it’s possible I have a disc removal and vertebral fusion.

Why is that? How else would you have contacted a staff infection? Hard to discount the coincidence of the infusion and subsequently getting staff in the same location.

Maybe it's for the best since the expense of malpractice lawsuits is one of the reasons doctors pay so much for malpractice insurance....which, of course is passed on to all of us as patients.

neither a chiro or md can fix djd if by fix you mean make it like brand new. Often the pain from djd is not from the joint but since the disc is thinning and desiccating this leads to nerve compression. I have thousands of cases of relieving people permanently from nerve compression secondary to djd. I have also sent hundreds to surgery over the years.
It is also true that by restoring natural joint movent a chiro can without a doubt slow the progression of djd.
Make it perfect or back to brand new?  No one can do that.

And it’s no doubt that it was on the skin and he didn’t clean the area properly, but it’s hard to prove he intended or didn’t care enough to clean me properly. But yeah you’re right, there’s no way that staph could’ve been in the disc any other way because it wasn’t present in my blood, only a lumbar puncture found it to be there. As far as the medical experts for a trial, the lawyer said I’d be looking at $50k and he’d make me pay the fee.

Lawyer fees are negotiable, but they commonly are 1/3 of the award.

What is most important is that you are healthy now.

I’m thinking this thing is still hanging around, back still hurting and been off oral antibiotics a week and a half or so. I go back to my neurosurgeon in a month or so and they’ll do an MRI but it feels like it’s still hanging around.

Wasn't his fault if someone spit on needle beforehand. Case of the Dangerous Doctors. It was the patient's fault-- 'you moved and got bacteria in needle trajectory'.

This is the worst fucking advise I’ve seen in my life.  Chiropractors are for a fact people who just aren’t smart enough to get through med school.  If you don’t want surgery the injections, McKenzie exercises and yoga are your best bet.  Violently popping and cracking joints is not.

Once I was over this, I was going to try yoga. Been in PT for a while now and the McKenzie excercises are the best thing I’ve done, probably better than the cortisone injections.
