Florida is too humid, has too many hurricanes and alligators.
Humid - yes. But once you get below Palm Beach near the coast, the humidity is not bad at all. The winds keep it pushed out west. But head west or to central/north FL, humidity is awful.
Hurricanes - yeah.... but a lot less (IMO) than brush fires, earthquakes, freezing winters. Long term prep helps. Impact windows, underground generator, home owners insurance (LOL) and a "go" pack are necessary.
Gators - Rarely a problem. Sometimes a lunkhead gets bitten, what can you do? Then again sometimes they come in handy.
