I don't know why guys would want to do this.

Possible reasons:

1) Lack of better opportunities in life.

2) Prove manhood.

3) Like rolling with sweaty men.

4) Like hitting people.

It's the new boxing.  Combat sports have always been popular.

when someone brings this up they usually fall into one of two categories.
1. Hardcore boxing fan who is in denial about how even the best professional boxer is easily taken down and mauled by an average high school wrestler.
2. Gay or closeted man fantasizing without recognizing that the deviant behavior isn’t two men fighting — it’s two men having sex.

Personally, I never was into fighting, whether it was boxing, wrestling or now-a-days, cage fighting, etc. I did watch boxing on TV with my step-dad when I was a kid and pro-wrestling with my son. Back in the day, pro-wrestling was fun and entertaining because of the antics of the wrestlers. -Never thought it was real.

And you can be sure that Prime will post on the thread.

Looks like Quentin Tarantino in the title role of the film, "Jackoff Brown" getting a reach-around from Abdul.

I don't know about that. The best MMA guys are strikers at the moment.

Anybody who thinks there is anything sexual about combat sports and grappling simply has not done it. It's a brutal physically demanding sport. Even when training with hot women it's hard to get turned on when they are trying to choke you out or break your arm.

I don't know why guys would want to do this.

Some just don't understand that for many it's in their nature to be physically aggressive and need an outlet like MMA, Boxing, Football, Rugby... Even traditional non-contact sports like soccer and basketball has gotten increasingly more physical and aggressive.

It served an evolutionary purpose for our survival. You need a certain mindset to hunt and kill an animal with spears, rocks and makeshift knives. You need a certain mindset to kill another man to protect what's yours.

Jean Paul Sartre once commented that he never felt more alive then when he was at war.

We now live in a very passive, cushy, pampered culture where traditional masculinity is discouraged. Boys today are more than ever raised by women both in school and at home.

The "pussification" of Western men is very real.

I mean the rolling around on the ground part.

In my teens and 20's I was also into boxing and martial arts, but now that I'm older I don't really see the point.

People who say that aren’t stage one of learning. So clueless they don’t realize their own cluelessness. It takes a few months of training to realize how little you know.

Not only is your post non-responsive it’s also inaccurate.

Heavyweight: NCAA Wrestling Runner-up and US Olympic wrestler
LH: See above (Cormier is still LH Champ) but Jon Jones was state champ high school wrestler and JUCO national champ as well
Middle: Robert Whitaker is well rounded MMA. Won AUS National Wrestling Tournament in 2015.
Welterweight: Tyron Woodley is 2 time NCAA All American (top 8 in USA) wrestler
Lightweight: Khabib is multiple-time World Sambo (Russian submission wrestling) champ
Featherweight: Max Holloway the only pure striker on the list of UFC champs
Bantamweight: TJ Dillashaw is a 3 time wrestling NCAA qualifier
Flyweight: Henry Cejudo is Wrestling Olympic Gold Medalist

Fact is, in a real-world exchange, if one can throw decent punches, in even a one-two combination, the odds favour him being triumphant in a very dramatic way. Doesn’t make much difference if the other has “ground game”.

Quick, aggressive and reasonably-accurate fists rule on the streets.

It’s simply the nature of how real altercations occur.

Real men hire thugs to beat up their opponents for them.
