Randy said Tyson was a scary prospect to fight
Interesting...
In a boxing match with boxing gloves, I have no doubt that Tyson would beat any UFC fighter in history. With the small MMA gloves, I think the game is changed a little [as I understand it]. But for such a prolific striker to be competitive in MMA [specifically the UFC] on the basis of striking alone is very impressive.
I wonder if Randy was just being humble? I only wonder that because Randy's wrestling was at such a high level, that I can't envision a scenario where he wouldn't be able to take Tyson to the ground...but maybe I'm in denial over just how good Tyson was.
I'm happy that the UFC came around, because it forced fighters to be well-rounded. Individual fighting styles are naturally limited, and I'm glad someone got the idea to merge them all [maybe inspired by the movie Bloodsport?].
I would love to see a top boxer in a UFC fight...but I can see why a boxer would be worried that he would look bad.
I think Conor McGregor was wise to fight Floyd Mayweather - he exceeded everyone's expectation and made something like $100 million...and it's not like a fighter's career lasts forever.
I would love to see a prime Tyson enter the octagon.
