History repeats itself. Innocent people will die.
« on: December 20, 2018, 02:43:08 PM »
We did it in Vietnam. We did it in Iraq. And now we are doing it in Syria.

Thousand of innocent people were slaughtered then. Thousands will be slaughtered now. And under a Republican President no less.

I just don't get it.

General James Mattis just announced his retirement.

So you think we should stay in Syria then?  How long, forever?

Seems like a good move but I doubt that the motive behind it is to benefit America.

Yes. Do you remember what happened when we left Vietnam? Twice the amount of people were murdered in two years than in our entire ten-year involvement. My sister-in-law has bullet holes in her right arm and leg and watched her eight-year-old brother head explode from a Commie bullet as they were crossing the Mekong River to escape the Communist.

Do you remember what happened after we left Iraq? ISIS. An obscure group of Muslim Terrorist that became a worldwide force.

During a press conference with Tony Blair and President Bush, a journalist asked how long are we going to be in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tony Blair started hemming and hawing going through various conditions and scenarios. Bush stepped up and interrupted and said, "As long as it takes." He stared down the rest of the press corp and repeated, "As long as it takes."

How long have we been in Germany? Korea? South America? The Middle East? Evil doesn't just go away. It requires eternal vigilance.

If not use then whom? If America steps down as the world leader and the greatest force for peace and Democracy who do you think will take over? Russia? China?

For whom?

After the slaughter, we'll be back. Just like with Iraq. Back to square one except tens of thousands would have been murdered.

Once again we would have abandoned the Kurds and left them at the mercy of their enemies to be slaughter as Hussien did to them despite our assurance we would protect them, an ally. This is good news for Russia, Iran, Assad and will embolden them portray America as retreating just as we did in Vietnam.

If these countries can not take responsibility for their own defense, at a certain point we have to cut them loose or we will just bleed ourselves dry.

I think our military has slayed generations of mooslim men and learned a great deal about this unconventional war.  I think now it's time they come home and prepare for a more conventional war with China or Russia.

We have to learn our lesson and get out of the nation building business.

the slaughter is already over in syria. the US backed every militant group and it's dog to overthrow assad. the russians eventually came in and pretty much obliterated isis and the rest of the "rebel" groups.

any chance of assad being toppled has now passed. game over. US troops are going home.

I think you're well meaning but this is all just a futile waste of resources.
Do you see these people, for example Kurds, as an ally and what is this ally accomplishing?

Bankers make LOTS of money from war and couldn't care a less about all the people that die, it's part of the game.  They steal an entire countries wealth in the process... whether it be oil, gold, diamonds, poppies, water, other natural resources, etc.  Then they install a central bank and control the currency.  Control/create the currency and you control everything/everyone.

US involvement in syria was never about anything other than getting rid of assad regardless of cost or any amount of human suffering.

they backed and encouraged ISIS to form an independent state. they only got upset with them after they started cutting journalist's heads off.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jun/03/us-isis-syria-iraq

"A revealing light on how we got here has now been shone by a recently declassified secret US intelligence report, written in August 2012, which uncannily predicts – and effectively welcomes – the prospect of a “Salafist principality” in eastern Syria and an al-Qaida-controlled Islamic state in Syria and Iraq. In stark contrast to western claims at the time, the Defense Intelligence Agency document identifies al-Qaida in Iraq (which became Isis) and fellow Salafists as the “major forces driving the insurgency in Syria” – and states that “western countries, the Gulf states and Turkey” were supporting the opposition’s efforts to take control of eastern Syria.

Raising the “possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality”, the Pentagon report goes on, “this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran)”."

All the "politicking" is nothing but a distraction.  Banksters already have all the money they need, so they want to control the entire world and everyone in it.  Key word: "Control"

Kurds are great allies. Bad move, IMO. We still have troops/bases in places such as Germany, etc. No reason to pull out when it is pretty controlled at this point. It won't be controlled if we pull out leading to bigger issues down the road.
Of the places in this area of the world to pull out of this would not be at the top of the list.

Not a fan of Trumps doings this last week. Hopefully he is turning around on the wall/shutdown issue at least.

I think our military has slayed generations of mooslim men and learned a great deal about this unconventional war.  I think now it's time they come home and prepare for a more conventional war with China or Russia.

We have to learn our lesson and get out of the nation building business.

With Russia and Iran having more control in the region it is our business.

We are supposed to stand by our allies. The Kurds have been and ally in the fight against the Islamic militant group and one of the most effective fighters against ISIS.

Building and making other pro-American nations strong makes us strong. That's why we fought Communist expansion.

It's not over any more than Iraq was over when we pulled out.

It's curious that those not in the military, not involved in the fighting want to retreat. The majority in the military, and certainly the military leaders, think otherwise.
