2019 Detroit Auto Show A-Z Guide To All The Vehicle Debuts
BY John Halas

If there’s one car we’d pick as the highlight of the 2019 Detroit show, that would arguably be the long-anticipated fifth-generation Toyota Supra coupe. Other notable world premieres include the all-new Ford Explorer, Kia Telluride, and Cadillac XT6 SUVs, as well as the redesigned Volkswagen Passat.

2020 Toyota Supra: More Photos Leak, Pricing Said To Start From $49,990
BY Michael Gauthier

2020 Toyota Supra
Toyota has been tight-lipped on technical specifications, but Supra chief engineer Tetsuya Tada has already confirmed the car will be powered by a BMW-sourced engine as inline-sixes are one “non-negotiable attribute” about the car. In the BMW Z4 M40i, the engine produces 382 hp (284 kW / 387 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.  This enables the roadster to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds.

Base 3.0 six cylinder: $49,990
Premium 3.0 six cylinder: $53,990
Launch edition 3.0 six cylinder: $55,250

2020 Ford Explorer Debuts With Less Weight And New RWD Platform
BY Michael Gauthier

Under the hood, there will be a variety of different engines including an entry-level 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that develops 300 hp (223 kW / 304 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.  It is connected to an all-new ten-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.  However, customers can order an optional intelligent four-wheel drive system which is available with a terrain management system that features seven different modes.

Drivers looking for something more powerful can opt for the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 which develops an estimated 365 hp (272 kW / 370 PS) and 380 lb-ft (514 Nm) of torque when running on 93-octane fuel.  Thanks to the new engine and the rear-wheel drive platform, the 2020 Explorer can tow up to 5,600 lbs (2,540 kg).

Not a fan of the new Supra either. Days where the Japanese car manufacturers built great affordable(well kind of) sportscars are long gone. They had more enthusiasm back then.

But I guess they realized there's not much profit in that game.

No. No I wouldn't.  It looks like shit, has a tiny engine, sounds like a lawnmower.  Maybe if you are are Californian and want a wimpy sounding car.

I`ll stick with Corvette. :)

I'm thinking about a small diesel in my next car.  Came close to a Dodge Ram with the 3.0 diesel in it and may yet get one but I'm also looking at the GMC Terrain with the 1.6 diesel.   That Supra is okay.  I had a first year Celica and liked it.

If that's the 2020 'Stang (and it looks like it is), Ford can go stuff it.  They were much better looking from 2010 to 2014 and then someone broke the fugly stick on 'em.  If this is what to expect, it's expectorant time.   BARF!

FU FoMoCo.  You've turned an American Icon into a pussified Eurocrapper.
