There are alternatives!  I actually was able to get rid of heartburn by eating lass fat and cutting coffee to just 1 cup in the AM.  I dropped fat really low for about a week and then brought it back up to just a lower-moderate amount.  I know how bad heartburn sucks though buddy!

I actually drastically cut down on coffee which reduced my heart burn by about 85%.

Also, not eating late at night really helps.
