Harking back to comic book lore....  the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) was originally written to be on the same level as Thor.  The Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel/Carol Dannvers (sp) was then passed off as a step down from that level.  She had some moments though.  Such as when Venom attacked her, she casually reached in his mouth and ripped the man out from inside  the symbiote host.
 
I can only imagine if Hollywood gave her the old costume she wore back then.  It screamed dominatrix.

The new SW movies were shit.  I thought "Rogue One" was decent, mainly because it was dark and all the major characters died.  The Darth Vader scenes were good too.
