movie "Bigger " not nominated for Ocars

Finally watched ...


movie is 30 years too late , had the movie been released in 1990 would have had a bigger response by audience  

Slow movie in general, and the fact that they don't touch the anabolic subject at all, is probably main reason why mainstream don't admire or push the master blaster accomplishments.

I'm sure Arnold hated it too lol  ... they made it seem like Joe Weider just bought a plane ticket to Austria brought Arnie to USA, Asked him if he wanted to be Mr.Olimpia then when he got the tittle several years  Joe convinced Arnold to get in to movies,  Arnold even looks  insecure about acting and his accent .


Although Sergio Oliva was Weider's 3 times Mr.Olympia champ and more respected and admired within the small bodybuilding circuit at the time  ..in the film (1970)  they make Sergio look like some mean stranger with an evil promoter trying to take the Mr.O ...let's not forget he was the defending champ that year,  not Arnold .

Ferrigno was missing in action lol  , would have helped the movie to bigger audiences having the 1974 Arnold vs Lou contest  (Both created by Weiders  IFBB) .


Is a boring movie specially the first 45 mins , Younger Joe Weider drawing muscle man and dreaming of having a Muscle man magazine is not a strong plot by today's standars ....


The only "GetBig moment" the movie has is younger Joe with Hot Betty walking on Venice Beach  and suddenly Joe gets hot and bothered when he sees this young blonde surfer with abs ! he even tries to touch the dude while the guys yells 'Hey I'm not a Queer !!"

Btw Movie Roma took ten nominations not bad for a boring movie ....

Awful film. Basically a fantastical love letter to the Weider organization. Very little in the way of bodybuilding in it. Maybe 3 - 5 minutes of actual bodybuilders and bodybuilding in it, and if one isn't well versed in 1940's - 60's bodybuilding history, you might not catch who the actors were playing.

Strange anachronistic writing and scenery, and much too fast pacing make this a very hard film to watch.

If it wasn't for the character playing Hoffman written in a very 90's racist, anti-gay, anti-semitic Texas High School football coach meets 1980's Skeletor type of way, not one laugh could be found.

The rest is is just superficial fluff that  has less historical relevance than a Wikipedia entry.

I just don't get award shows your job is to act its a job yea it pays very well but its just a job.. why don't we have award shows for the people who teach,firefighters,good cops, blue collar hard working mother fuckers people who find cures and do real health research...

That was supposed to be LaLanne's 1951 gym. All the machines and benches in it looked late 1970's era at best. There'a another scene where Weider's curling olympic plates on a standard bar. And another where he's drawing Arnold's famous double bicep pose as a headless figure in the 1940's.

Also the film steals a lot from the earlier rivalry between Bob Hoffman and Mark Berry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Berry_(author)), and changes them into Weider stories.
