btw - nice of Republican Lee Zeldin to actually admit that Trump has taken the federal workers "hostage"

Are you ready to lose another one?

you truly haven't  got a clue what you're talking about (common for Trumptards and common for you for your entire life)

https://www.truthorfiction.com/did-house-democrats-vote-against-shutdown-back-pay-in-january-2019/

Rep. Crenshaw's tweet intimated that House Republicans voted to issue a single paycheck to furloughed workers, while House Democrats voted against the measure. Based on accounts of events in the chamber on the day of the vote, even present Congressmen and women were unclear on the events that occurred. The vote linked by Crenshaw was a Motion to Recommit, which was voted down largely by Democrats and up largely by Republicans. A subsequent vote on passage occurred on January 23 2019, and it was favored by Democrats, while Republicans mostly voted against it.

Rambling on at the mouth without a clue.   Meanwhile..... Mexico still isn't paying for the wall.

Reserving judgement on this as when I have jumped the gun on things I thought he was making a big mistake he usually ends up doing the right thing. I thought he caved quite easily on the Union address so this may have to do with that.

Trump just extended it for three weeks.  When the libtards still don't budge it looks bad on them not Trump plus the libtards in the House have no power while the government is shut down.  This must drive the freshman libtards like Occasio-Cortez crazy (not that she isn't already).  The longer this shutdown lasts the less damage they can do.

So he can deliver the State Of The Union address right?  Is that his grand plan?

Not sure how it looks bad on anyone but the person who proudly proclaimed he would be happy to close it and take full responsibility of prior to doing so.

Trump caved.  Mr. Art Of The Deal lost.  Nancy kicked his ass.

I do wonder how you make a deal with those who are not open to one. You even have your own side caving (in Trump's circumstance). What is he really to do in the end (if it gets shut down again) and how do you make an actual deal? Difficult situation.

Why do you even need a deal when your own party controls the Presidency, the House and the Senate?

I've got an idea

He could get MEXICO TO PAY FOR HIS WALL

that's what he said over and over and over and over and over and over again

He couldn't get that done so he decided to take eight hundred thousand federal workers hostage in order to extort money from US Tax payers

Why would he expect a co-equal branch of government to negotiate with him under those circumstances

And as Lurker pointed out, he had two years to with his party controlling the House and Senate.  Why didn't he make an effort to get his wall funding from his own party and why didn't he shut down the government when they wouldn't provide it.

You shouldn't but you do because (as in the post you quoted) your own supposed side can't stand their ground. That's my point. His hands are tied unfortunately even when the Republicans had control.

There is no deal currently to be made that is beneficial without completely (and truly) caving to an ideology I don't believe in.

Truth be told, it was not a smart campaign promise. The reality is that congress controls the budget. So Trump was making a promise that he would’ve had to depend on other people to help fulfil.

So you are saying that even Repubs are against the wall funding?

Some of the elected officials are or don't care enough to take the blowback from the media, etc. plus he needs some democrats to come over as well.

Do folks actually believe campaign promises? Politicians are salespeople. They will say whatever it takes to get elected. Laws and budgets are passed when the three branches of government and the parties work in unison. Stalemates and shutdowns are losing propositions.
