It Is Outrageous That Phil Heath Won The Olympia Seven Times.
« on: January 28, 2019, 05:27:55 PM »
This is a bullshit, and the degradation of bodybuilding...the guy is narrow from the front, flat pecs, quads that look big only because his calves are tiny. his back is defined but narrow compared to previous mr.O's. the only thing he had are great arms, good abs and a small waist with a good V-taper.

I see Heath as a smaller and shittier version of Dillet in the mid 90s. at least Dillet had great and not just good quads and a V-taper at 270 lbs. that is far more impressive IMO

This.

It speaks to the failure of the sport to grow and attract new blood to it on the pro side.

Paul Dillet was a much better version of Heath...at least he had great and not just good quads, and great arms with a V-taper at 275 lbs. that is much more impressive than having big arms and a V-taper at 240 lbs!

i think he's becoming underrated, i love the 90's as much as anybody but some people actually say he wouldn't be top 6 back then

he doesn't have the best looking body, but neither did dorian or ronnie and they had just as many weaknesses as phil

he probably beats all of the 90's guys for the same reason they did unless they change the judging criteria on the fly like they did last year when rhoden won, if it's judged based on every other year only ronnie and maybe dorian could beat him

as for paul dillet post a back double bi shot of phil and paul, phil is much more complete overall and would win easily, the shows aren't judged based on the guys just standing there relaxed

The scary thing is Phildo could come back this year and win it again.  Roden is not that good or dominating.

Not really the sport and its judging criteria lost its way in the late 90s and it allowed guys who are structurally deficient win as they started rewarding mass over everything else. Prior to Coleman you could honestly say that the guy who won the olympia also had the best structure sometimes he wasn't the most muscular guy, but had shape symmetry and mass. This went out the window with Ronnie and Cutler, but in all honesty they never faced Wheeler and Levrone at their best and the standard dropped to allow them to win especially in Jays case a lesser argument can be made with Ronnie, structure wise he wasn't as good as his predecessors but mass wise he was hard to ignore especially when compared to wheeler and leverone who had already peaked in the yates era, at their peak I think they could both have beaten him.

heath is basically just great arms, good abs and a small waist. that's him in a nutshell... a small Dillet with shittier quads. the two most important muscle groups that make the torso, the pecs and back are seriously lacking in development for heath. this is why he looks like his arms overpower his upper body...

I have seen phil hit the back double biceps...great definition to his back, but the width is not there. mr.Os always have thickess in their pecs and backs...comparing heath to Yates or Ronnie is asinine...

In 1998 when Ronnie won flex and Kevin were both 33/34 years old, if you aren’t in your peak during those years, you aren’t ever in your peak then. Just more excuses, maybe laziness, politics, etc..

i don't think you've ever actually seen him, his abs aren't even that good but they are better than ronnie's

his quads are anything but a weakness, better than yates

his only weakness is his width but that's better than having those twigs for arms yates had, his back is more detailed than both ronnie and dorian's

from the side his chest is fantastic, not so good from the front

phil has no weak pose while ronnie is weak in side triceps and abs/thighs, dorian is weak in most muscular and front double bi after 93

Oh I have seen him buddy..have you? I have seen him guest posing, and even at his offseason weight he looks narrow and his back sucks. His back is narrow for a 240lbs guy and much less so for a mr.O. his abs are really good, one of the best on any mr.O, but not in the lee labrada league.

His pecs are atrociously bad from any angle. from the side, they look flat...from the front they look incredibly narrow and underdeveloped. comparing him to Ronnie or Yates in the side chest is asinine...both had far more thickess and roundness..

Most muscular is not even one of the mandatory poses...not sure why you bring this up.

You say that it is better to have big arms with a narrow torso than small arms with a huge toros. first of all, yates didn't have "tiny" arms...his arms were around 20". secondly, physiques are supposed to be balanced...so either one of the other is bad, and thirdly, IMO, having big back and pecs are more important than big arms with tiny back and pecs...pec and backs are much larger and more important muscles for a man's overall image of strength and  development than arms...put a guy with huge arms and small back and pecs next to a guy with huge back and pecs and the latter looks stronger and more impressive.

  so there. :)

Of course, you can have your opinion, but you are in a tiny, tiny small minority that thinks Heath's back sucks. The vast majority believe that it was his back that was the deciding factor that won his shows. Even in the last Olympia, where he looked horrible, the commentators were still commenting on how he destroys everybody from the back.

And I've never been a Heath fan.

they all look like shit when they guest pose, i don't consider 4 abs to be really good, and i have no clue how anybody can look at that back and think it's weak when only ronnie and dorian are comparable

Outside of Chris Dicksuckerson,  Phildo is the WORSTEST Mr. Olympia ever.  His physique resembles a worm filled dog turd and his personality isn't very personal.  FTN.

i think a lot of ppl dont like Phil's build since they do not like him.... they are connected more than ppl want to admit it

he had an out going/good personality like Phil Mickelson ppl would applaud his build   - but phil is not well liked and never will be

we all know he would have his work cut out for him if he was around 1990 to 2005

Bingo! I never like him personally but I have to admit in his early wins he was pretty impressive. Even this last Olympia all Rhoden had on him was chest and abs. It's just that Phil's midsection is so bad it ruins everything. If he had the same midsection that he had in 2011 he would have beaten Shawn.

Who was supposed to be winning during all those years exactly?
