More proof they've run out of original ideas.  I'll give them credit though, as they don't try to re-package it as something new like all of the body-swap type movies.

they should've made a cult of chucky sequel, curse of chucky was really good and seemed like a bit of a reboot so i don't know why they made this

Don Mancini, who is the writer for all of the original series has disowned this new version. MGM told him they wanted a fresh remake of the film, he said he didn't want it. They said "We're doing it anyway, and you can come on a producer, or leave. He left. What may happen is two different series of movies. One line of remakes, and the new, original Mancini Chucky films.

TV censors and movie ratings were liberal back then.  They loved to scare the crap out of kids in the 70's.    Tons of creepy tv commercials and movie trailers aired after school while doing my homework in front of the tv.  This one really bothered me, from 1974... rated PG?
