How many INS agents does it take to guard a wall around a Hollywood house? My late wife's childhood home in Beverly Hills was built with a wall around it. These days, it keeps illegal Latin gardeners, maids, chauffeurs and pool maintenance personnel from escaping onto the streets of North Beverly Hills.

Yup. In all the years I've resided in Portland, it's never snowed that much. -Gotta go to Mt. Hood or Government Camp to experience deep snow. To be honest, it doesn't look like 30" of snow in that photo, unless the chair has mighty long legs. Maybe you meant 30" drifts.

Good: So much damn fun being a kid...hell, even an adult with lots of snow.  There was a small local owned grocery store where I lived that the city plows would take care of the parking lot, along with a front end loader, and even a back-hoe scooper when necessary.  We would actually go sledding on the hills that were created just from that 200yds L X 50yds W area being plowed....some years around 20+ feet.

Bad: A group of kids on each block would usually wait together at one classmates house to get picked up for school.  I remember waiting at the end of the driveways, and having to look around plowed up snow banks that were 2-3" above our heads to see the school bus coming up the street to get us.  In the northern midwest a Nov-Feb under 90" inches total is when people actually buy into global warming.....the next year usually smacked us back to reality.

Relevant to the thread, because those of us not on the west or in the south can build our own fucking walls during the winter.

Don't remember the street addresses, but I lived in three different places. Albion, Homer and Parma. There's a lot of family history in Albion. Last time I visited, my father's Mobile station and car sales business was in Parma. The station building was still there, only it was transformed into a mini market. Also, my Grandfather's octagon house in Albion was still there and it was used for Albion College staff housing. In 2007 the Albion Episcopal church burned down and the stained glass window my grandfather donated was lost.
