From the floor or was it with straps with the bar raised in a power cage?  If that is from the floor that is some sick strength.  Five sets of five reps with 500lbs is incredible. What's your single?  650lbs?
Full reps, chalk and a belt. First 3 were easy, 4th sucked wind and 5th set was brutal. Pretty sure I farted non-stop.

I can deadlift 240kg for 6 clean reps. Have also pulled 305kg on a trap bar (low handles).
Can barely bench 120kg and haven't squatted over 160kg though.  :-\

Bodyweight 110kg at 6'2ft. Fat and natural.

Quite a few powerhouses on getbig - backday, fortress, chaos, liquid_c, Mike Wolfe, robcguns, van bilderass...etc

Oh yeah?  Well my walker was forged by midgies in the fires of Burning Man!  It's made of Unobtainium and has the 3 flags of Buick on the handles and is said to be endorsed by people who should know better .  It's the wanker walker of kings and in theory can remotely control an early 70s Amana Radar Range!  By the way, that last part should impress anyone because there were no remote controls for Amana Radar Ranges.  Talk about Regal power!

If Thor joins GetBig, then everyone else are reverted to Twink status:

(1042 Strongman Deadlift for Arnold Prep). Larry out there in Iceland w/ him, another strong guy. (Looks tiny next to Thor though). (FWD to 11:30)

From the floor or was it with straps with the bar raised in a power cage?  If that is from the floor that is some sick strength.  Five sets of five reps with 500lbs is incredible. What's your single?  650lbs?

Weird thing for me is that I've done 405 for 15 from the ground, but most I can remember doing on rack deads with that is 12.  I would place the safety bars so that the weight bar is about 3" below my kneecap (i actually just busted out a ruler to see how far down the spot on my shin is where I liked the bar to be. LOL  I'm a nerd!)  I find this makes it pretty much just a lower and upper back/rhomboids/trap builder, and keeps my ass and hams mostly out of it.  Doing them that way also made sense to me, bcuz I did deads on back days.

I was a very strong squatter from day one (likely from years of skateboarding right up until I started training), and my ass grows just walking past a squat rack it seems, so I stayed away from deads, and did squats with heels on a board and knees close.  I never did any type of deads until Francois had an article with him doing them, and read why.. which was to keep the glutes out.

Someone gave me shit about doing rack deads one time...I was either doing 455 or 495...495 is the most I've done for reps ...don't remember for sure if that's what I was doing at the time though; anyway, they said I couldn't do what I was doing from the ground.  So I said let's start training back together, and we'll find out.  Took me a few workouts, cuz it is different in how you set up, and start to pull.  Eventually though, I did the 405 for 15, and that pretty much proved to me I could do the same, or more on the floor vs. racks if I kept at them.  I've gone heavier, but I don't recall for certain if I did 5 plates or 4 + a 1/4 each side to claim one as fact.

On top of the big ass thing, full deadlifts from the ground have always scared me in regards to tearing a bicep.  The way you have to set up and pull up and into your bottom shins felt much more strenuous at my lower bicep and along the distal tendon vs. when I would do racks as the bar is already right up against my shins.  Maybe it's cuz I'm short and/or how I'm built structure-wise, or it's just because of how I did them from the ground never really perfecting the movement that way?  IDK?

Regardless, I think Matt's the clear victor overall here it would seem.  I do get kinda bummed out that during "my time" cell phones were just becoming a thing for people other than drug dealers and celebrities, and there were no camera phones back then.  As much as I get pissed off these days about people and their fuckin phones/selfies in the gym, I really wish I had some of those moments captured.  Without them I'm just a guy "that used to be" :'(  Man, I hated those fuckers when I was young.  Circle of life I guess. >:(

What's your max single deadlift?

LOL! Just a normal post for me ;D

Don't know.  Like I said, always been afraid of them.

I was pretty lucky when I started, I had a National level competitor who won the bantamweight Continental USA approach me when I worked at the gym and ask if I wanted a training partner.  Wasn't going to pass that up.  He was super strong on squats, and I was trying to keep up...failed.  I busted out my knee wraps to do a set with 365 for the first time.  That's when I got my first lesson.  1) No wraps unless you want strong muscles, but not strong tendons and ligaments.  2) No more maxing out.  "You can either have a great build and look strong, or you can look like shit and tell people outside of the gym you're strong...Pick now"

On rack deads I've done 455 for 10, and 495 for 8 if I'm recalling correctly....it was 20 yrs ago so?  I do know my consistent end working set was with 455 for 8, and then drop set with 225 for whatever I could get
Bench I'm positive about, because I suck at it and it's always frustrated me.  It's a total mind fuck lift for me  365x3
Squats on board 455 x 5 on several occasions

Bodyweight for those varied between probably 180-185 for squats, and the bench was done at 197....deads were somewhere in between there.

Only gear I used is straps and belt for deads, belt for squats, belt and wrist wraps on bench

Did you post yours, and I missed, or am I  just old and actually replied and forgot?

I saw the deads....very good!  What about bench and squat?

I've seen your posts for years, and enjoy them but don't know much about ya.   Without being too specific what's age and height range, bodyweight?

Btw, thanks for the props for this little fella. lol  As stated though, those days are long gone :'(
