Hahaha, when you do a pull up into a dip in one motion.

Oh one of those things the "crazy young kids" these day do on YT vids where they also perform the street pole sideways handstand trick? Got it! 8) Why didn't op just say that? ???

This is why I'm wordy folks.  To give you a visual, so no questions are needed.  LOL! ;D

:o  Fuck dude!  How big were your legs?  I know you said 25% bf, but what was your waist and height range?  I'm assuming you're at least 5'10" based on your posts about shorties

6' 1"  waist was 32"   my legs were only 28".

And I don't care about people's height.  Some really tall people can be assholes.  One of my best friends was under 5' tall toward the end of his life.

Great lifting
Very Strong.

My Best lifts in U.K. powerlifting

Squat     260kg 572lbs
Bench     185kg 407lbs
Deadlift   255kg 561lbs

At 75kg 165lbs in 75kg class.

Probably My Strongest & Lifted heavier at around 94kg though I was competing in Bodybuilding
By that time.

8)
That's some shit right there Illuminati!  Nicely done at only 165!

Thank you sir.

I'm 57 years old and have been competing in the sport of powerlifting since 1980. That's 38 years. And...

From the bottom up...

-Knees... feel great
-hips... total replacement on one (left). They both feel great now
-low back... always sore but Strong and no structural problems
-elbows... no issues
-shoulders... bad, very bad. Total rotator cuff reconstruction 3x. Very fragile.
-neck... pain free but issues, anterior disc excession and fusion c4/c5/c6
-head... a total train wreck.

You're on Get Big.....completely unnecessary to post that last part :P

My left shoulder has bothered me for sometime, so your shoulder section there freaks me out! :o

Just shrugging or rolling shrugging motion with no weight, and I can feel it and hear it grind, click, and sometimes a popping.  That's why no more of less than 6-8 stuff for me ever again!

If I could go back in time, I would have never even tried to figure out what I could get for anything less than 5 reps on any lift....but especially so on flat barbell bench.  That, and I would never have done behind the neck bb shoulder presses at all...not even to try them once.  Fuck those  >:(

Fixed

(And even though I'm 6' 1" I have to say I love the idea of going into a gym with a more compact guy who then proceeds to out-lift some of the bigger guys in the place - it would be like having a street sleeper auto or something.  ;D)

I'll tell you this much....we're great to go to rock concerts with if you bring a few other big guys, and want to get front row in a hurry.  Me and my friends had it down pat pretty good.  I was the lead, and everyone got behind me and pushed as hard as they could(seriously no homo!) while I'm wiggling in between people and able to get under their shoulders/pits and push up so they have no leverage. They're off balance with no warning, and next thing they know all the taller big dudes like you behind me are brushing right by them too while they're still focused on the stocky midget that is now 3-4 rows ahead of them.....good times and memories ;D

During one concert we were probably 25-30 rows back sitting on the floor until lights went down when people stood up.  Probably within 45-60 seconds after music intro started playing we were up to the 3rd row as the curtain dropped.  After that you just have to work in pairs or on your own, but me and my best friend at the time were front row right in front of JD by the 2nd or 3rd Korn song.

For all the shit I've taken about being short, it's nice to be appreciated every once in a while ;D

So you squatted 535 for 20 reps?

Yes sir.

That’s some very impressive leg strength

Your bench and deadlifts don’t seem to match which is mostly the opposite of most lifters

Thank you.  I agree but I never could bench press.   The deadlift I only did once in a while and the one I mentioned was done because my powerlifting buddies were taunting me.  ;D  Those were great guys and it was them who taught me all about J.C. Hise and the milk and 20 rep breathing squat program.

I literally drank up to 3 gallons of milk a day.  Something most people could not do, LOL!

That is strange.  ???

I'm trying to imagine his physique structurally in my head based on the big 3 lifts #'s, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

I guess some people are just freaky strong on a certain lift.

535 for multiple sets of 20 reps is some elite level squatting. Tom Platz standard. Even the likes of Larry Wheels or a younger O'Hearn probably couldn't manage it.
Were you natural when you did those weights?

Yes.   I followed the 20 rep breathing squat program as done by JC Hise and modified it a little to suit me.  And I really did drink up to 3 gallons of milk a day.  I've seen Platz squat and he goes ass to grass and is a lot shorter than I but that takes nothing away from either of us.  He was  a fantastic squatter with a far better build than I ever attained but again, my role models for leg workouts were Hise and Anderson.  For physique I looked to Reeves, Park, Draper and Arnold.  But I didn't look nearly as great at those men. They just inspired me.  ;D

Hise proved that almost anyone could be a powerful squatter with this program and my powerlifting friends got me into it big time.  Prior to that I hated leg work.  I started with 135 (that nearly killed me) and it took several years to reach those poundages with my gradual increases coming in 5 lb increments (a 2.5 lb. plate each side!).  The bench press was never a passion with me and while I wish I was better at it (who doesn't?  ;D), I guess I just wasn't made for it.

This method is the best way I have found to get big and strong.  It worked in the early part of the 20th century and it will still work today.  But it is HARD and nobody except powerlifters will ever ask you how much you can squat.   ;D

Very impressive! I actually tried doing just one gallon of milk a day some years back but just ended up with the shits. ;D

I've only managed to hit good weights on the deadlift but I'm pretty weak on other stuff. There are some exercises that just seem to suit our individual mechanics which allows us to make rapid progress.

Did you ever test what your single rep max was on the squat?

No, I never did.  I asked a couple of folks that are genuine trainers what they thought and both guesstimated 700 lbs.   I agree about the influence of individual mechanics or traits affecting us and our training.  I just could not bench.  I even tried 20 rep bench presses and it never really worked the same for me other than if I could do something 20 reps I could usually do 100 lbs more in a single. That's how I got to a 350 max bench press but I could not go any further on that exercise.  ;D  Too wimpy I guess.

I will say I was lucky with my response to drinking milk.  I never had any problems with it.  Dumb luck, huh?  ;D

I guess there's no point to any of it really, but i've taken an interest in calisthenics recently. Probably stupidly, considering my age and build.

But I see so many guys who have better physiques than most self-proclaimed 'bodybuilders' and (allegedly) do almost pure calisthenics. So I decided, why not give up some weightlifting and try to master a few of these moves? Haven't got much to lose...

Oh I totally agree with that angle.  It's just that particular exercise that I've had the concerns about.

And you're right you see tons of evidence of the just daily repitition working better than bodybuilding - mechanics' forearms, gymnasts, etc......

I used to drink 2 Mega Mass (not the whole 2000cals) shakes a day with 16oz of milk, and it would fuck me up.

I would actually avoid having one before legs, because the one time I did it and everything else in my gut ended up in the trash at the gym

Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm more impressed by the squatting 535x20 for multiple sets.....or drinking 3 fucking gallons of milk in even one day, let alone everday?   ;)  GROSS!!! :-X

Well, that explains the 25% or more bf%

That's something most, if not all, people WOULD NOT do!  Seriously dude, thinking about that makes my upchuck reflex kick in a bit...fuck that...A LOT! :-X
How long did you keep up that daily nonsense amount of milk consumption?

Double seriously...that's so fucking gross sounding I actually had to bust out my calculator....1 gallon = 128oz X 3 = 384oz  divided by 16 hours awake daily = 24 fucking oz of milk/hr! :o

You must have been the smelliest taint in the entire city, let alone the gym you trained at!

I'm picturing the "old days" you as a dude with huge legs, and small chest/shoulders (based on bench/squat ratio) walking into the gym encased in a cloud of greenish molded milk colored gas that follows you everywhere you go.

How did you live with yourself?  How many public restrooms and toilets did you close down, and destroy respectively?  Have you no couth..no decency for your fellow man sir? >:(

Did you buy digestive enzyme supplements by the pallet, or wtf man?

OK, this solved the debate in my head about whether I was more impressed with the 535x20 for multiple sets or the 3 gallons of milk daily........it's the 3 gallons of milk per day by a country mile, except I'm not impressed.....I'm disgusted by the thought, and angered that you....one person alone, probably affected the price of my milk for a few years. >:( >:( >:(

there's always people who exaggerate their lifts, it seems unavoidable and there's no reason to believe it's not happening in this thread

I don’t think anyone is really, there is a handful of strong bastards on here in one way or another. I don’t see the point in lying about lifts,I always go by my last workout and that is my strength, today was arms and did standing dB curls back against pole holding dbs palms up whole time no supination and got 50sx20,60sx14,70sx9,80sx5,85sx3 and hammers same way 80sx20,90sx15,100sx11,110sx7,115sx5 and tris dips body weight 77,50lb db 35,70x20,90x15,110sx10,then NGB 185x55,225x32,275x14,315x7,335x4.

I don’t think that’s outlandish weighing 235ish been liftin 26-27 years.I train very hard.Somedays I’m stronger somedays I’m weaker.

I admit where I’m not very strong and proud where I am strong but lying about numbers is stupid to me as it takes away from real lifts.I don’t count lifts of people using spotters with hands on bar or bad form,I use relatively strict form and make the muscle work as hard as possible.Funny how many people you meet when you are big and they always have a relative or friend who is bigger and stronger no matter how big and strong you may be.Never understood that.

Anyways rambling as I’m quite stoned.

Squatting 535 for 20 reps, you are in the 1 percentile

I believe I never even seen Ronnie do it, he’s usually in the 4-6 rep range when going extremely heavy and I’ve seen him front squat 5 plates for reps

I imagine there are a bunch of people who are stronger than Ronnie on certain things,I train with a guy who is juiced up and looks amazing but I’m a lot stronger. You never know.
