Thank you.  The story has changed several times. And obviously a 40 pound cat and a 80 pound cat are not any where near the same.

I'm 6'6" 330 pounds...   Oh wait... I'm 3' 3" 165 pounds.

The idiot is lying.
I'll bet you can deadlift more at 3'3. ;D

One of you guys clearly has a Reddit account  8)

(I particularly like point C. which indicates a lot of primary research!  ;D)

"Humans have some surprising advantages, reach, flexibility, and intelligence. There are instances of people killing [lions] by shoving a fist down their throat and ripping their tongue out or suffocating them.

I'm not saying you won't get f'd up, but, it is a lot fairer fight than say, a crocodile or a tiger.

Just remember:

A. All cats go for the back of the neck, to bite and break it, never show it your back, if you fall, roll on your back asap.

B. If that doesn't work they kick with their hind feet to disembowel prey, try to avoid getting anything important there, your best bet is to literally wrap your legs around the cat torso so it can't lash at you.

C. No cat likes to tangle for long, they strike and release, throw and catch, putting weight on a cat is going to freak it out- In fact most mammals instinctually try to move away when pressure it put on both sides right before the hips, the sides of the stomach, you know, that sweet spot you liked to poke other kids with that bzzzzt noise in middle school, this effect also make horses rear and freak out, etc.

D. They have big eyes. Go for them, with thumbs or elbows."

As many a 12-year-old boy has observed, the German shepherd is a badass dog. That's kind of their whole point. But a counterintuitive fact about the world is that, taken as a whole, cats are actually way more badass than dogs. Compare lions, panthers, and tigers to coyotes, wolves, and the large dog whose bellies you've amiably patted. There's no contest.

For an illustration of this concept, look no further than the video above. In it, a German shepherd at the zoo gets a little fresh with a cougar behind a glass partition. The cougar then takes action, and the interaction is far more satisfying than noted movie-that-came-out-in-2001 Cats & Dogs.

At about five seconds in, the dog seems to like his chances against the monstrous cat, but soon faces facts and spends the next minute and 55 seconds cowering as the cougar flexes on him. Thankfully, there's a pane of glass there -- but what a terrible zoo that would be if there weren't.

Anyway, go hug your dog.

No-brainer here.  That cat has fangs and huge claws, all the dog can do is bite.  One or two swipes with those claws and it's all over.  The cat is much faster than the dog.

When he said 80lbs and then they 40lbs in seemed kind of strange.  Turns out it was probably like 20lbs or lighter.

The remains was 24 lbs. But half of it was eaten by other animals. So live they estimated it to weight between 40-50 lbs. A 50lbs cat is no joke and can seriously fuck you up. If it was a 200 lbs lion he would not be here to talk about it unless he had a gun or knife and knew how to use either and even then it is not guaranteed he would have survived.

The necropsy performed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife veterinarians in Fort Collins identified the lion as a "kitten'' with a weight of 24 pounds. However, the animal was heavily scavenged and officials estimated the animal's live weight was 35 to 40 pounds. The report listed the animal in "fair condition'' with no diseases noted.

I once owned an English Bull Terrier.  That dog crushed a door knob with ease.  I was at a breeder near Palm Springs and asked her if she worried about Cougars.  She said no, as her dogs were nearly fearless and could easily rip one apart.

Our dog once lit out across the street after a 185 lb. Rottie.  I was worried our pooch would get hurt or killed.  Fortunately, the dogs got along and later on our vet told me the Bull Terrier would just snap the larger dogs legs and then go for the throat.  We had to get rid of ours because he was adopted and was abused prior to coming to us.  As such, he trusted no one and would easily bulldog my legs out from under me and go for the throat to dominate and be alpha.  He never really hurt me, but I could not take a chance he might harm my family.  Never have I seen such an incredibly powerful dog.  I gave him a LARGE Nylabone and he easily bit in two.  Like a twig.

A Mountain Lion might have a chance.  Just once.  That dog was incredible and I honestly think he could easily kill one alone.  We tried to rescue him but he was too untrusting of people and therefor quite aggressive.

Exactly...he had to come up with a story of his heroics in fighting off a huge predator, so his SJW vegan friends wouldn't ostracize him for killing an animal.

Another twink liar.  The norm these days :'(

Mountain lion attacks and injures child in Orange County wilderness park

A mountain lion attacked a 3-year-old boy Monday afternoon at a wilderness park in Lake Forest in Orange County. Shortly after, a sheriff’s deputy killed a mountain lion in the vicinity.

The child suffered neck injuries and abrasions, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Authorities feel confident they killed the right cat because it was in a tree along with the backpack the boy’s father threw at it.

The child was attacked at Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, suffering injuries consistent with an attack from a mountain lion, said Capt. Patrick Foy of the California Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Division.

The child was taken to Mission Hospital and is reported in stable condition, said Capt. Tony Bommarito of the Orange County Fire Authority.

A picture of what happened has emerged from various official accounts.

Two adults and four children were hiking about 4 p.m. when the lion attacked. The lion was reported to have singled out the child, Foy said.

The lion apparently seized the boy by the neck, creating puncture wounds, and started to drag him away. The child suffered abrasions from being dragged along the ground.

The boy’s father threw a backpack at the big cat and the cat released the child and grabbed the backpack. Someone later took a picture of the cat with the backpack in a tree.

“Due to the threat to public safety,” deputies received authorization from the Fish and Wildlife Department to kill the lion, said Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The animal was killed about 5:20 p.m.

Officials immediately evacuated the park, getting the word out by loudspeaker from a Sheriff’s Department helicopter. The park will remain closed until further notice.

Attacks by mountain lions are infrequent, but can be deadly.

In January 2004, also in Whiting Ranch, a mountain lion killed avid biker Mark Reynolds, 35, of Foothill Ranch. He apparently was crouched over, fixing his bike, when the animal attacked. Experts at the time said a cat will sometimes interpret a crouching animal as a sign of weakness. Reynolds was probably in greater danger because he was alone.

The cat partially buried Reynolds, another common behavior with prey.

The same cat then attacked another biker, possibly because she unknowingly came near Reynolds’ body. A friend and other bikers pried her away from the cat, which was later killed.

Reynolds was the first person killed by a mountain lion in California since 1994.

Children can be another potential target in these rare attacks.

In May, 2019, authorities killed a mountain lion that attacked a 4-year-old boy at the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve in San Diego.

The child had been with a group of about a dozen people in an area known as Carson’s Crossing when the cat attacked in midafternoon. Witnesses said the boy’s father kicked the large animal and threw a rock to scare it away.

In the 1980s, two children were injured in separate attacks by mountain lions in Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park in Orange County.

Pets and livestock are generally more frequent targets.

In 2017, a San Mateo County homeowner woke up to find that a mountain lion had apparently entered through partially open French doors and snatched her dog from the bedroom where she and her child were sleeping.

A mountain lion in Modoc County in 2018 specialized in killing horses.

In December, a gaunt mountain lion attacked two dogs in Simi Valley, killing a miniature Schnauzer. Later that month, a lion began killing goats in that area.

Authorities are reluctant to euthanize a mountain lion if it is behaving in a natural manner unless it poses a threat to humans. Sometimes experts will relocate an animal as an alternative measure.

Is there any chance this guy saw the kitten, thought how cute, went to pat it like an overgrown domestic kitten, and then got mini mauled and killed it in spite? In any event he should be buying a lottery ticket seeing how lucky he was not to run into the mother I guess.
