You rarely see "zooming" or "panning" in professionally-done productions. They have multiple cameras and cut from one to another depending on the shot they need at the time.

Of course, bodybuilding shows are as cheap-ass and unprofessional as it gets, so they probably got some kid fron the A/V club at the high school they're holding this thing in to do the camera work.

And it doesn't takes a lot to make it look really good either. Two cameras. Stationary, switching between them when zooming and panning.
