I would say they are roughly the same: shitty cars.
There are other cheap alternatives far more well built and reliable.

Under powered : 1.6 liter engines with 120 bhp on most of them.

Where I work 4 guys purchased 4 Peugeot and also a good friend of mine has one unfortunately.

Models are 208, 308 and 308 station wagon, all MY 2016-2017.

Of 5 already 3 of them dropped that shitbox, only two are keeping them but reliability is a nightmare and “cars” are plagued by lots of electronic bugs.

How Italians view FIAT? Well mate, ask anyone and you’ll get the answer that the Agnelli (FIAT previous owners) were the Royals of Italy.

The state put in the company so much money and so many times that we should get at least 5 cars each to pay it back.

Shitty management by Agnelli who was far more interested in pussy & coke than everything else.

Back on cars: FIAT will always be a poor choice, even now that models are slowly improving (I have to admit in the last 5/8 years interiors and quality made some progress).

But if someone needs a cheap car there are plenty of them on the market which are far more reliable.

ALFA is the Chevy of Italy I do believe: good performance for a reasonable price.

I'm trolling a little bit. American's view Volkswagen's as unreliable and that's why they haven't been able to raise there sales in America no matter how hard they try, and they did try. The Passat was designed specifically for the American Market and flopped. Fiats and Peugeots are viewed as being much less reliable than Volkswagens.

When these European brands come to America they have to realize they're going up against Toyota and Honda. That's the level of reliability Americans expect.
