RIP. He was dead a couple of days when found - yikes!

Sources connected to Jeff told us ... he was found in his bed Monday at his Los Angeles home when his roommate (a former fiancee) returned from a work trip.

We're told it appears Everson may have passed away a few days before his body was discovered. There are no signs of foul play. Officials do not believe Jeff took his own life. We're told investigators believe he died of natural causes.

One of my lectures in med school was from a visiting cardiologist.
Will never forget him talking about weight lifting and it's effects on the heart, valves, coronaries.
Basically, strenuous weight lifting over a long period of time leads to premature ageing of the cardio-vascular system. Not to mention the concomitant use of steroids, massively high calorie intake, and of course anabolic steroids in large doses. There are no 'natural causes' of death when in your 60's.

My problem with Jeff is he talked a lot of smack about Weider after he happily collected a large paycheck from the guy for years and years.

Also, he got to use the guy's magazines to push his wife and anything the two of them were shamelessly pushing at the time.

He supposedly cheated on her, but she never really got specific about what happened.

Cory Everson was born Corrina Kneuer. After divorcing Everson, she married a dentist named Steve Donia.

Jeff got really fat in the years after his powerlifting interests. He hooked up with Scott Connelly, supposedly the medical doctor who invented Met-Rx, and helped him push the product back in its infancy. Even Bill Philips was involved back then before he separated himself to start EAS.

He claimed he was going to use Met-Rx exclusively to get back in shape to try and win the Masters Universe. I'm sure steroids had more to do with his transformation than Met-Rx.

Anyway, using steroids and being as heavy and out of shape as he was for all those years (most of his thirties), did its damage.

I think even most of the "all drugs" guys on here...at least in our age group and above, have enough knowledge of his writing and what he did for the sport by sharing his knowledge, and also developing and sharing Cory with us.

As far as whoever said he used Joe.....money flowed both ways, and Cory sold more mags than any female bodybuilder in history I'd bet.  I don't think Joe went to his grave unappreciative of what Jeff did for his publications and the Ms. O competition....let's face it, it was all downhill after her reign was over.  I'm sure Jeff felt the same way about Joe as he got older and time passed on.

I wish I had a VCR still....I'd bust out my weider champion cassettes with him and Matz! 8)

I remember reading his articles and interviews on Musclemag in the early 90’: useful and direct information (not many “weider’s principles” useless for natty teenagers).

I had to travel to the biggest nearby town (20 km) on a bike to get a copy of those magazines…no internet/insta/fb at that time.

Very sad.

Was a big part of my early weight-training years. He was always featured in the muscle magazines and was like the king to Cory’s queen. You know, back when the Ms. Olympia was actually something.

Jeff was all things resistance training. Bit from all the disciplines.

Never met him, but I did Cory. She was as pleasant, beautiful and composed as you’d imagine.

RIP to Mr. Everson.

A few articles are saying he was complaining of pain in his leg in the days before he was found. Maybe a case of Deep Vein Thrombosis. You don't think of it right away, but I've known a fair number of active people that have had trouble with it over the years.

Everyone who endorses BBing supplements was/is on drugs.

MetRx was nothing more than a protein drink... totally hyped and the claims were absurd.  The marketing was genius though.  It was one of the first powdered health supplements to use an agglomeration process, combining ingredients and gums of different particle size and specific gravity so they would not separate.  Everyone involved made millions.

The roid abuse killed Everson, not his bodyweight.

He was 68 when he died which is not young.  Guys that large don't usually live very long regardless of whether they use steroids or not.  MetRx was genius marketing and made them mega millions.  The only supplements that ever lived up to the hype were later taken off the market or drastically changed like Ultimate Orange.

True, in general big dogs don't live long.  Regarding Ultimate Orange many highly suspected it had powdered testosterone in it originally. I never used it but heard of many saying they made incredible gains with the original formula.

My sympathy to his family and friends. At 68, he was still a young man. Gone too soon.
