Typical powerlifter... fat, bald and unkempt beard.  Why is this look so common?

I visited Westside Barbell once in the late 90's... ALL the members looked like that.

Started with Westside. Very few Powerlifters looked like that till Louie got popular. Louie was bald for years, and had a winning team, then a bunch of others in the Ohio Valley embraced it, and then the rest of the powerlifting world did. Almost all of the oldtime powerlifters had hair, and if they were losing it, they got toupes.

Doesn't matter what they look like.
They lift heavy weights.

It's not a "ball-suit show" oiled up w/ salad dressing for gays.

Trust me, BB's are laughed at in the PL world as well...

If it doesn't matter what they look like, then why do 95% of them look like this?

I agree about BB's.

Does powerlifting make you bald and fat or do just bald and fat men do powerlifting?

Guys who are naturally huge and strong gravitate to powerlifting.  In high school there were players who hardly ever lifted and were the strongest guys on the team.  After high school was over they became powerlifters.  I guy like that would never look good for bodybuilding no matter how much fat he lost.

Real strong athletic men Olympic lift. Power lifting use to be legit. Now it's shallow squats with support gear.  Benching with support gear doing the craziest U inversions to cut the range of motion. Now we deadlifters who barely get the bar off the floor doing a sumo.

No monolift or rack to make life easy for Olympic lifters either!

'Powerlifters laugh at bodybuilders' Why? Plenty of bodybuilders are strong as fuck. Takes a lot of discipline to eat strictly and stay lean. I've competed in both, lifting heavy is hard, staying to a diet is hard.
