That's rough, I'm really sorry to hear that. Lost an Uncle about 5-6 years due to pancreatic cancer.

This news is truly horrible.

My mom watches Jeopardy quite regularly, and has for many, many years, so I’ve come to like the guy and how he presents himself. Intelligent, composed and classy.

His attitude is fantastic, but, yes, he’s in for one hell of a battle. The odds are seriously stacked against him.

It's too bad that we aren't yet at the point where we can cure all cancers. I think it is coming inside of the next 20 or 30 years, but we just aren't there yet. I don't subscribe to the conspiracy that there is already a cure that is being withheld, simply because the rich and famous die from cancer all the time. If Steve Jobs died, then there is not a cure in my opinion. But, that's for another argument. Trebek is 78 and unfortunately pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly kinds. Hopefully he beats this.

I don't know how Trebek lived, so this isn't specifically about him. Just some good advice for all:

I encourage everyone to decrease the consumption of processed and animal foods and increase the consumption of whole plant foods and especially vegetables. Stop over eating and only consume what your body needs. Stay active and try to exercise for at least an hour a day. Get blood work done at least yearly and address any deficiency. Stop smoking if you do and cut the alcohol out or down to a minimum. That is, if you want to live a long time. I know people who say things like "I eat what I want and don't plan to live past 65 or 70." But, the reality is that you will have things you want to do when you grow older...spend time with grandchildren etc. There will always be rare cases of people that live a healthy life and die of cancer in their 50's or 60's but that is rare and not the norm. The anecdotal example of your uncle that smoked till he was 100 and didn't get lung cancer is a poor example to base your lifestyle off of.
