Vince "The Good Old Days" Basille doesn't have a vendetta against them.

I agree.  I think Rusty was overlooked, but no need to always put the heat on Bob when this topic comes up.

Hey, Matt, how are you doing on the philosophy forums.

Are you suggesting I am overdoing it a bit re Chick? I had better pull my head in!

Bob got frickin owned that comp there was too much political crap. Rusty's presentation was flawless and came into that show in awesome condition. Cheesy gay moustache or not Rusty deserved to win

Bobs shape is so unpleasant there it makes me pee blood. I can't believe so many people rush to his defense

The judges should be ashamed of themselves

Anyone who takes the time to view the images from the 2006 World Pro Masters championships will be amazed that Rusty Jeffers was overlooked. How the judges gave the title to Bob 'Rhetoric' Chick is one of those mysterious things the IFBB judges often do. Makes no sense to any unbiased observer of bodybuilding. Jeffers has the shape, size and condition to win. He stands out far above the others.

The only problem for the judges was who to place next. Not so obvious that it was Chick. Surprisingly, Bob and Rusty were not compared according to the images I have seen on line. Disregard that there are so many images of Bob. That doesn't mean he deserved to win the title. Look for yourself and be amazed.

As far as I am concerned, to place Rusty 8th was a travesty similar to what happened to Bev Francis in 1983 when she placed 8th behind Rachel McLish and other women. When the IFBB doesn't want you to win you get placed 8th. Ditto for Sergio in his last Olympia.

Who were the judges? I would never let any of those judge a contest again. Shame on the IFBB. A pity for Bob because that sort of thing shouldn't happen. No matter, we can get Bob Chick to sort this out with the Pro Committee.

Rusty was so screwed......he was the best that day. But hey, yet another reason why the IFBB can't be taken seriously. Hell, look at the Mr.O last year..... ::)

Trust Goodrum to dig up his favourite viewing material.

We all watched how Dennis Wolf was systematically screwed in contests last year. I mean, imagine being placed behind Kamali!

There were no comparisons between Dennis and Jay. Shades of the Masters Pro in 2006. I guess the stench from the 06 show pretty much made that an unpopular contest and it wasn't held in 2007.

One doesn't have to look far to find controversial decisions in Bodybuilding.

Look at the poll about who should have won the masters in 06. The lads of Getbig don't kiss butt. Well, some do!! So if we take into account the votes cast by gimmick accounts then Jeffers is the uncrowned champ. Bob had Bodybuilding Com behind him and it just smacks of a set up show. Would Steve W allow anything untoward to happen at one of his shows? Who knows what Steve does behind the scenes. Who picked the judges for that show? Who were the judges. Would be interesting to see the individual scores. That panel should never be allowed to judge again.

At least in this picture, it is because Rusty is smooth. Look at his legs and delts in comparison. The other guy is cut much deeper and has lines on his delts.

However, since the overwhelming majority seem to favor a pleasing structure over ripped-to-shreds, maybe (Bob) the judges aught to conform to public opinion and weight things differently.

Give more points to body structure (which, as seen here, people seem to favor) and fewer points to conditioning (again, people don't care so much about).

A side benefit to such a change in judging would be that the genetically superior competitor would win (drugs do not help basic structure). And, drugs would mean less (at least cutting drugs), therefore aversely affecting competitors health less.

I like Claude (the other guy) but his gut was way out of control at that contest.  Compare his waistline to Rusty’s.  :-\

“IFBB Masters Professional World Champion” was not a real contest.  That particular contest/title never existed before and it will never be staged again.  Like Vince B. said... it was a set up.

In retrospect it now seems very fitting that it was Bob's only pro win.  ;D

Claude and Pavol were guys I thought had great physiques. However, as they aged things started to disappear and if you look closely at the images from the contest you cannot put them ahead of Rusty. Bob suffers when you look closely at his physique. Turnip thighs last seen on Reg Lewis way back when. Loose skin on the lower abs. He looks cut in some photos but not so hard in others. Contrast that to Rusty. If you look at the small images you might think he is a bit smooth but click on a larger image and you will see he is hard and cut. The closeups tell the real story.

Bob did a wonderful job for Bodybuilding Com and established himself as a winner when it hardly happened on stage either at the pre-judging or evening shows. Rusty had a more pleasing physique and had sufficient size to go with the aesthetics. Bob is trying and did well for the video but goodness me who could give the title to him?

The judges, who were seated 15 feet away from the stage...it wasn't close, Basile. Had Rusty been sharper, it could have been a close contest...he wasn't, especially in the morning. No surprise...he's never beaten me.

to sum up this thread, aesthetics will never win over definition and mass. never. unless the show is rigged. bob is the furthest thing from being aesthetically pleasing in most shots, but he won because he was the biggest and most ripped guy there. thats what the ifbb judging policy has been for over a decade now, and it's here to stay. dexter jackson is the exception to the rule, because his conditioning overpowers the lack of mass he has.

rusty shouldnt have won, but he should have placed higher.

positives are as you said, and also being a show where the guys with generically 'great' structures are put ahead.

negatives are many! guys with good structures but terrible physiques being placed ahead of regular guys with great physiques.

Judging from all these pictures, both Bob and Rusty are not at their best and too smooth. Rusty looks a little harder and has alot better muscle separation over his entire upper body than Bob. If these pics of Rusty are all from the night show than it isn't a legitimate comparison since everyone says Rusty was out of condition for the prejudging where the contest is really decided.

Bob only looks impressive in the front double biceps pose where he can show off his size and good v taper with some separation in the quads. In all the other poses, his lack of separation and hardness shows.

its who sponsors you now what you can bring on stage that day....proof (Mr. O 2007) that you can come in looking like a fridge, smooth, bloated, and still win 140k plus only in bodybuilding.

Bob, according to the poll here on Getbig it is clear that Rusty beat you 2 to 1 for the Masters. You haven't always beaten him now.

What a pity that believing something doesn't make it true. Sorry to say but you were given a gift. Given your involvement in that contest it now seems rather suspect when a video was being made and you were the star. Brings back memories of Pumping Iron where Serge was told he couldn't compete and then stopped eating and training and then lost too much size to challenge Arnold.

I guess you are confident that the officials in the IFBB endorse your victory and that no judge deviated from the decision. You guys really do stick together afterall. Too bad there couldn't be an investigation into possible favoritism in that contest because the evidence of photos is going against you.

Rusty is a friend of mine for years. His pictures in no way do him justice and if you were to see him in person, all of you would be very surprised. Some of the greatest calves and abs!
Rusty is equally impressive as a person- shy, but always polite to everyone.
Example: Just a month ago Rusty and I were on the treadmill: People were going up to say how he was ripped off [ some were in attendance at the event] with unflatering statements about some of the contestants. Rusty [ typical of a true champion] would NOT say a bad word about ANY contestant ONLY positive comments. Something to be learned perhaps?
On a side note ask Rusty who his favorite bodybuilder of all time is: You guessed it, Mike Mentzer follwed by Casey Viator and myself[ Ha!].

Yeah...star of my OWN film...LOL...what an idiot. Who do you believe funded the project, the IFBB? Were the judges producers of the Fitshow?

God...you are a blithering idiot, Basile....

You should follow your own advice..."believing in something does not make it true".....you believe what you want, we actually had a contest in the real world to determine the winner.
