It's disgraceful.  Of course this has been going on forever with rich people buying their kid's admission to colleges.  Daddy donates big money and a legacy acceptance is approved, etc.

Loughlin's oldest daughter is a very dim bulb if you've seen her youtube videos.  A very shallow and narcissistic person.

No wonder Hollyweird and other rich kids are so messed up with parents like this.

Much worse has been done by parents throughout human history to advance their children in life.

Royalty have murdered their own child to advance the prospects of another of their kids.

Plenty of other very wealthy (but less famous) were also busted in this college admission bribery and cheating scandal.
I came back to post and (hopefully) discuss this issue because it isn't about the typical "red vs blue" sides of current politics.
I believe at least 30 parents were named in this and many state atty generals are involved.

In my OPINION, is about time somebody spoke up and did something about this.
Some parents even photo shopped pics of their kid playing on the team of a sport ,they never played . WTF!
If we can't be fair in "merit based" college admissions, that's pretty damn sad.

I dunno LOL, but the most recent coverage said 25 million was directly involved in this bribe/cheat admissions scandal.
Lori Laughlin and many others involved actually used the bribes as "TAX DEDUCTIONS!"

Plus, I think it could lead to some form of "blind admissions" policy going forward?
Have the apps with piles for in state vs out of state with the names and addresses removed.
Come up with a simple formula based on: GPA, SAT score, # of clubs/activities and pick the best.

Too many laws and regs. already.

That went on for decades. FYI, it wasn't one political side guilty of it. A lot of families with $$ did it and it's WRONG!

I don't think anyone should be able to bribe their way into any college , Med or Law school.

If a rich guy wants to pay for a new science building with a legal donation and the private college decides to admit his kid that is their business.

That's not a bribe.  There all kinds of reasons colleges accept one kid and deny another.

Nobody is doctoring the kid's SAT scores and photo shopping his face onto a Google image athlete's head.

The stuff in question was not legal.

There is a saying:  The A student returns to be a professor, the C student returns to pay for the Science building.

To me, buying access isn't fair and it sure isn't based on academic merit.
EVERY top school has a limited number of spots.
If a few rich kids buy their way in; deserving , qualified students get left out.
That's not fair and is biased.

The rich kid with the avg grades can attend a less rigorous school.

I'm 100% behind a blind admissions policy.
Granted the affirmative action police might complain, but I'm for FAIRNESS and a merit based system.

A private college can admit anyone it wants.

Access isn't a right.

Rich kids go to private schools that regular Joe's can't afford.

Rich people drive expensive cars and live in expensive homes that regular Joe's can't afford.

That's why most people want to be rich.  So they can afford an expensive lifestyle.

Life's a bitch Howard.  You don't get to play the rich man's games if you are not rich.

Universities discriminate against more qualified students quite legally.

They limit certain ethnic groups such as Asians and Indians who would dominate their graduating classes if they admitted them based on achievement.

Less qualified students are admitted instead.

If they can refuse to admit more qualified applicants because they are too smart, surely they can also admit or refuse admittance to other students for various reasons.

They can and they do.

Not saying it's right to do that.  

Do you think colleges should admit the most qualified regardless of ethnic group or should they discriminate against the best students for diversity purposes?

Should it be legal to admit less qualified non-Asian kids instead of the best qualified kids who happen to be ethnically Asian or Indian?

The reason it's not a big deal is because higher education is just a business when it comes to most degrees and this has been going on for a century....and all is a part of a bigger issue.

If you are a stickler for the laws on the books okay...let's start with Hillary.

If it's not right to pick and choose winners lets uphold the constitution and roll back this leftist chipping away of it, ban all this social justice nonsense and have entry based on actual merit instead of demographics.
