I use a scoop of isolate after training and before bed. I don't think it will make you huge but do believe it makes a difference in protein uptake and recovery

Use to practically live on them ( esp metrx and Gainers Fuel 1000) now... couple times a week (maybe?)

Protein powder is food.  That's all it is.

It is a convenient way to eat food.  Nothing wrong with that.

However, there is no magic in it for growing muscle.

The magic is Vitamin S.  That's the magic.

Take away Vitamin S and your favorite top bodybuilder turns back into Clark Kent.

Don't believe the BS about supplements which sole purpose is to lighten your wallet.

This stuff is incredible. The company diligently researched and reproduced the original Rheo Blair milk and egg protein powder
This is the protein that Arnold was using, behind the scenes.

He did get free protein supps from Weider.

Arnold used lots of Vitamin S.

Rheo Blair was a salesman or a con man depending on your preference.  Nowadays new con men are trying sell the same crap.

Why not throw milk and eggs in a blender and drink it?

I am a big whole egg person - there is a study that shows drinking eggs (uncooked) the protein absorption is way less?

The Journal of Nutrition, found that the availability of egg protein is 91% with cooked eggs and only 50% with raw eggs

Either way at least you know you are absolutely positively getting protein, not some powder with god knows whats in it. I know Franco Columbo was big on raw eggs, I do 2-3 raw eggs a day lately, haven't gotten salmonella yet.

I am huge on raw eggs - I follow vince gironda methods - you do as well (the amount of eggs and meat)

I am not worried about salmonella but wondering about absorption

1 cup of egg whites = 26 g = better absorption than powder = 1 scoop of protein powder

Pay no attention to Species, GAF (chris jones), Ghost, Shredz, jay culter special BS  and all that other bullshit, just do egg whites from a carton.

Someone else can do the monthly cost comparison.

I use it sparingly.  I go through about one tub of Beverly International a year.   90% of it is late night snacking when I want a dessert, I will do 1.5 scoops of powder mixed in with one tub of Zero Carb Zero Fat yogurt to make a nice chocolate pudding.

The other 10% is what I use to make homemade snack bars to take with me when I fly off on a travel/photo gig.  Next month I will spend 1 week in Singapore and 1 week in Australia on a gig and the plane flight from Ft Lauderdale to Singapore is 30 hours total.  I will make up 10 protein bars - 5 for flight over, 5 for flight back (kept in fridge of course).  I take that plus 1/2 of a diuretic on the plane and never end up bloated or with stomach problems.  Airline/airport food will give you the runs and if you go with other crappy protein bars, you get constipated.   I pick through the food on the flight and never eat snacks.

Also, I tried the MuscleEgg.com chocolate flavor and it is exactly like drinking chocolate milk.  A gallon is $50.  You get 16 servings.  (1 cup per serving).  This is a little over $3 per serving.

However, you can buy liquid egg whites and mix 1 cup of them with 1/4 cup 1% chocolate milk and it tastes EXACTLY the same.  For only $1 per serving.  I use this a lot now, at least twice a day and unlike protein powder in the past, it doesn't bloat me or give me gas.

The absorbtion factor I can't speak on as I don't know about it.

In the US there is zero government over sight on supplements. You have no idea what's in the tub. Could be mixed in someone's garage for all you know. I foolishly take a multivitamin with the USP test symbol on it and a vegetable protein shake on the days I train. I truly have no idea if it's helping me.  I remember when I would take 5 to 6 supplements a day. Creatine, whey isolate, vitamins, and tribulus.  All I got was the runs. Creatine is the only supplement  that I can swear actually worked. My muscles got full and dense using it. I hear most aren't responders to it but I was. At the time all my blood work was showing kidney damage. I cut out creatine and all my kidney tests came back great. Doc thinks my kidneys were overloaded trying to filter out the creatine.  Who knows?  All I know is off of creatine my kidney tests came back perfect.

Almost everyday......

Meal #1 (After Cardio)      Protein   Carb   Sugar   Fat   Fiber
1/3 cup dry oatmeal               3.33           17.33 0.67    1   2.67
2/3 scoop Six Star Whey      20           4.69   1.35          1.33   0
8 oz. 2% Milk                       8              0     12            5    0
5 oz. Non Fat Plain Greek Yogurt 20             5    2.5            0     0
4 oz. Frozen Strawberries      0           3.5    7.5        0         1.67
1 Tbsp Flax Seeds              1           1.5      0       2.4            3
*Add 1gm B-Comp, 5gm Glutamine, 3gm AAKG
Macro Totals               52.33     32.02      24.02     9.73   7.34
Total Meal Calories      209.32   128.08   96.08   87.57
% of Calories per Macro      40.17%   24.58%   18.44%   16.81%
            Total Cals   521.05

Started adding 2oz of diet sprite for some fizz, and this tastes AWESOME!  (It was actually a blueberry smoothie with spinach recipe from a walmart ad minus the protein and supplements)

Point is, when mixed with real foods it's a very inexpensive and very quick way to get some extra protein and a "meal" in.

Lots of slacked jawed candy asses in this thread.

If you're actually afraid of what's in your protein powder, just stay home all day and live under your bed. You fucking cowards.

Buy a well established brand. Get a good price.  Take it every single day. You might actually grow a set.

"Oh I'm scared that what they claim is in my protein powder really isn't in my protein powder!"
