The Dems have the edge on this issue. The reality is that the whole thing needs to be gutted and started from scratch. This would pave the way for better more efficient private options.
Of course, there would be some short term pain or as Patrick Swaze said, “It’ll get worse before it gets better.” So, Republicans in office don’t want to take the hit and as a result won’t recommend anything drastic like getting rid of employer based healthcare, a government intervention which is standing in the way of real innovation.
Conversely, the Democrats can offer more and more government intervention. People like the sound of free healthcare and don’t concern themselves much with the reality of how it’s going to be paid for.
Oh boy...strap in fellas, this turned out to be a long one, but one you should all read.....especially those on the left, and including going to the referenced thread with the link to insulin prices since 1996. Anyhoo...
With all due respect bro, I feel like your first and second sentence kinda contradict each other TL. I don't know that anyone has an edge, but if I was going to give one based on the fact that I agree with you that "the whole thing needs to be gutted and started from scratch"...I'd give it to the Republicans. We already have seen what the dems had to offer, and it has made things worse not better. Please go check out my post in P4W's thread about Tucker on the 1st page of the G&O....should be towards the EOT still if it hasn't re-gained momentum.
Remember that the ACA is something the dems have been talking about and touting as our healthcare savior, and thus we can assume some planning or had a rough outline in place since Killary was 1st "lady".
That's a long ass time to put together something that disastrous.
As I pointed out in the thread with some links. The % of uninsured Americans was 14.6% when Obama took office, and as of july '17 when CNN put out an article about dropping ACA numbers, 15.5% of Americans were uninsured for 2017. Trump was not in office when sign up occurred starting in Oct. 2016 for the 2017 plan year, so we are worse off as a nation when it comes to insurance than when Obama took office on the campaign promise that you can keep your dr. and premiums would be affordable.
Go to that thread and look at the link I posted to the chart with insulin prices, and how they changed since the time Obama campaigned and gained momentum in '07-'08, 2010 when the act was signed, 2014 when it got put in place, and then 2015 and beyond when it was announced the mandate would take affect. That chart, the cost of premiums, cost of drugs, and the number of companies that left the ACA all speak directly to the failure of the ACA and Obama as a president.
I laugh my ass off when I hear people talk about the greatness of Obamacare. I was on it when I tore my bicep throughout the two surgeries and 9+ months of PT, and another 3 months stuck at home in a tension brace I had to fuck with for an hour a day 3x per day. (I lost the ability to supinate and pronate my wrist completely....lifting weights again was the last concern for me during that time) The way it timed out I went from my employer's plan which was fucking amazing, to enrolling in a plan that was fairly good and around $150-175/mth (can't recall for sure) with about a $1750 deductible, then enrolled for 2017.....where the number of plans was reduced to 1/3 of what was there in 2016, the premium was over $300, and deductible went from about $1250 to $6700...
.that was the best and most affordable plan by far!!! I then was forced to medicare, because my work's LTD disabiltiy insurance company made me file for s.s. so they would get re-reimbursed part of my monthly payout.....and that brings me to the other thing that makes me laugh my ass off about "free medicare for all", which is....
Medicare IS NOT FUCKING FREE!
Ask someone on disability, or a retiree receiving S.S. who is on medicare and under 65-70 (there's a cutoff where things actually get pretty good with supplemental plans added, I wasn't that old so IDK it

).
Bernie, Pocahontas, Beta-bitch, the not-so-great Kamala, Skeety-Petey, and the never ending "entering the race" others that are dems conveniently leave out the fact that it costs roughly $140/mth (oops!).....and it fucking sucks complete donkey dick, unless you buy a supplemental policy which just makes it suck less. (some supps are free if a person qualifies, but the actual Medicare IS NOT!) Best deductible for those under 65 was $3750 with OOP max of over $7000......that was in 2017, so I'm sure it's improved...

My point is this...if Medicare for $140/month is that shitty, and it is just essentially catastrophe insurance.....what the fuck do people think "free medicare for all" is going to look like?

And how about if we keep allowing chain migration, and they're part of all too?

For those that have a close relationship with their Dr., have a conversation about how they feel about the government just getting involved with the electronic reporting, and then ask them what they think about a government run health care system?
President Trump was streamed giving a speech at a rally in Grand Rapids, MI last night and he talked about the premiums and deductibles currently on the ACA. I have zero reason to doubt his words based on when I was on it, and how it changed just from August 2016 when I enrolled for immediate coverage compared to Oct 2016 (2.5 months later for those that can't math

) for 2017 enrollment. He said something to the effect of.. "Great, you have privilege of paying hundreds or more per month for coverage that only does anything when something disastrous happens. Are you really worried about your deductible then.....gee how am I gonna pay that?...Or are you thinking ...,man, I hope I don't die!?" Some may not like his bluntness in that delivery, but it's 100% fucking true, and these dummies that think socialism is the answer don't even know how poor our current social welfare programs actually are (unless you're a minority, single mom, immigrant, then nvmnd

).......and that's while we're increasing the debt, and operating on a deficit year after year! >:
People need to learn how shit really works right now, before they go voting for some dipshit that's promising everything for free. It's a gosh damn pie in the sky lie, and that's why none of them talk about any details or plans......just ideas from the dems. "Ya know I'm a dreamer, but my heart's of gold. Bernie loves to get high, even while he's so old"...sorry had a Crue moment in my head..

First of all, none of them will ever deliver on that promise(s) because we can't afford it.....it's full on retard to even think for a second that we could do it.

Secondly, if they did deliver we would go bankrupt overnight like Greece. Third, if it didn't make us go bankrupt overnight we would all be personally broke as a joke (bernie's plan last time around called for over $5K in extra taxes for the average household..."called for" being key words), and the coverage that we had for "free" would only be able to be used if your neck was partially severed by a muzzie who missed the mark trying to behead one of us because the people that are going to vote for socialism will be voting for open borders too. (no emoji face, bcuz we wouldn't have heads! <----See that? Yet another drawback of socialism and open borders....emojis will no longer be yellow round faces, they'll be mangled and blood red or just stumpy necks...might as well get used to it now fuckers)
End of facts, and EOR!
