(So does anyone know if Dave Palumbo lurks here..?

)
Dave - you're being slightly economical with the facts of the matter... 'he was just trying to make an analogy'...? Oh please...

Online begging Asking for money via Go Fund Me /Patreon/ etc. in the 21st Century is fine (just mildly embarrassing) and nobody (that I've seen at least) has had a problem with that. If he'd put a positive spin on it and posted 'thanks for the £14k guys, let's see how far we can take this, please spread the word' it would have been courteous and probably got closer to the result he wanted. Even directly addressing your individual followers and politely asking for $1 from each (like a beggar in the street) would probably have raised no eyebrows either - it seems to be a modern business model....
But what Robbie
actually chose to do/say was:
"If EVERYONE of My 71.1 thousand FOLLOWERS have not donated $1.00 to RRGofundbme ., I AM DISAPPOINTED .. Then it is time I cancel my. Face book and Instagram pages"Saying he was 'DISAPPOINTED' instantly comes across as ungrateful. Threatening to shut your channels down as a result is self-defeating and immature. And - as others on here have already noted - threatening proceedings
when he's supposed to be broke shows him to be either immature if bluffing, or downright dishonest if he really does have the money to retain someone - take your pick...
