And most dangerous.  I'm surprised there aren't more serious injuries with Olympic lifters.

They eliminated the press from Olympic lifting because guys started leaning back so they could incline press the weight. Now it's time to eliminate the snatch.  Make lifts a one lift contest. The king of lifts the clean and jerk.  It's very rare to see a guy win an Olympic meet because his snatch is so high it compensates for an inferior clean and jerk.

Maybe they could drop the snatch and bring back the press  OR  add the power clean (with no press) or deadlifts.

Olympic lifting is true power lifting. They should rename powerlifting strength lifting. If you want to increase power as in increasing vertical jump or sprinting speed then Olympic lifting is the way to do it. I really enjoy the clean and press. Really wish it would come back but it becomes subjective how much lean back is acceptable. I think it's a way better test of strength and power than a bench press.

The dislocates are part of the game. They look ugly, but most lifters come back from them just fine. She's got breaks though, so who knows how well she'll come back from it mentally, she is taking it well though -

I fractured L-5 doing the snatch.  I just wasn't built for the lift.

There are lots of dangerous sporting events, and it takes years of practice to become excellent.
Let the elite do what they do.

She was screaming so loudly because she knew dinner was going to be late.

I saw film at what I think was a cross fit gym where the guy dropped the bar while snatching on his back breaking it.

Yes, the names should have been switched but by the time powerlifting became a thing Olympic lifting was decades old.

Of course, Sergio and Arnold built their bases, doing the 3 Olympic lifts(clean and press/clean and jerk/snatch).

Wonder if something was lost physique-wise or in terms of athleticism , with these movements falling out of the gym weightlifting curriculum.
