Personal choice. A belt is safety equipment as is chalk. Straps have their place in trainingfor some people, I just don't like them. For the record, I don't use a belt until 545 on deads and 455 on squats.

Strongman deadlift is a different thing compared to PL. Straps, hitching, allowed.
A bit odd, but again, a different sport.

Look at those things they call "chin-ups" in Crossfit. Like a monkey swinging around on a bar.  ::)

Strongman and powerlifting share similarities but they two different sports, like football and rugby.

No one compares Olympic lifting and powerlifting or crossfit, there is some crossover but they're not the same.

I used to HATE crossfit, primarily because I thought the exercise and lifts were ridiculous but once I understood that's the sport I started to gain an appreciation for those who compete.
