Jesse Ferguson passed away a few days ago as well.  Died on the couch asleep peacefully watching TV.

Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, and Clockers cement Spike's place in movie history. Although I will admit he can be cunty sometimes.

Much too young to die. Interesting that at only the age of 23 he directed Boyz N the hood which aired in 1991, so he might have even started the project 1-2 years earlier, making him incredibly young as a director.

Wow. There ain't no walking away from a stroke at 50. All people I know 50 or younger that have had a stroke are either dead or bed-ridden for life.

I am sorry for his family's loss.  Having said, and genuinely meant, that...I've never seen any of his films and I doubt that I ever will.  That said, I am more a John Ford, Frank Capra and Ridley Scott (to name but three) enthusiast.

Hannibal wasn't as high quality as The Silence of the Lambs...but Ridley Scott's direction was amazing.
