I have to disagree,I think bodybuilding is more of a sport than any so called sport.I think all athletes are extremes overpaid and bodybuilders underpaid.Reason being bodybuilders I believe have a lot more discipline and work harder and put their bodies under more stress.I think it’s a lot harder to look like a bodybuilder than try and hit a ball with a bat or throw a ball thru a hoop or run down a field with a ball.
I'm a big robc fan, but you are so far underestimating the discipline it takes to play professional baseball, it's staggering. Baseball players will take 500 swings a day off a tee alone, in addition to batting cage work, defensive work, conditioning and strength training, learing through film, and crazy travel. Consistently being able to hit 90+ mph pitches with movement is something only the best freaky athletic/skilled people in the world can do.
Bodybuilders have to deal with lactic acid pain on tricep kickbacks, take steroids, and not eat too much for a few months.
As for the compensation, if bodybuilding contests generated the revenues pro sports did, they'd be compensated accordingly.
