He was 79.

I thought he was in his 70s for the last 20 years.

Like Howard Cosell, it will be nice to never hear his annoyingly nasal voice again.

This one made me sad. I'll miss his "Let me tell ya".

I'll be absolutely crushed when Merchant goes, he's getting up there in years :(.

RIP to both Mr. Cooper and Mr. Lederman.  Bert Cooper was involved in two of the best heavyweight shootouts of the 90's which is saying something since the 90's was a close 2nd to the 70's in all time great heavyweight eras.

Lederman was a great judge.  As a lifelong boxing fan I miss the glory days of HBO. The crews of Lamps, Merchant, Foreman, Manny Steward, Roy Jones and even Max Kellerman were the best the industry has ever known.

As a lifelong fan me too, pre UFC and pay per view taking over boxing had some great times, nothing like a Larry merchant post fight honest interview. I only disagreed with Lederman scorecard a few times over the years, can't say that about too many judges, and im talking Don King days, when anything was possible.

I can’t stand Larry Merchant, always seemed like a pompous know-it-all asshole.  Relatively little charisma or stage presence either, given his position.  Lederman, on the other hand, was solid
