Attachment Handles
« on: May 16, 2019, 01:05:23 PM »
I have access to a fitness center (free), which is small, but you can get a decent workout in. They do not have many attachment handles (maybe 1 or 2) and I was contemplating purchasing some. I figured this would be useful on the days I did not feel like driving to the gym.

Which attachment handles would you invest in?

In a perfect world, that Back Widow bar Flex Wheeler demos would be great, but I think it's like $400, Edit - on sale for $250.

I'd just buy, or have them buy a traditional straight lat bar and a triangle / D row handle - https://sep.yimg.com/ay/yhst-59118648745518/lat-low-row-triangle-opposing-grip-3.gif . You can use the regular lat bar for press downs, no need for a fancy short handle.

SF1900 have you considered not being cheap and spending money on gas to drive to the gym? Or maybe ride a bike. You'll feel better.

Flex Wheeler makes an all in one handle you may find useful.

SF, I love the close-grip triangle thing for back (pulldowns),and also upright rows on a Olympic bar.

Our gym got the MAG bars recently, love the medium one (larger one is too wide, made for Thor and Falcon sized people). MAG is expensive I think tough.

I like the one I have, sort of a bent bar w/ pronated handles, sort of like this one, with bends at the handles (I like this one too for rows, etc).

Yes, the BACK WIDOW, which helped Flex achieve his fitness goals!!

It's fun to be cheap.

Never used MAG products, but I prefer the other styles better (silver handles).

Yeah the Back Widow. In order to save more money Id buy a 6 foot rope and 2 c clamps and make my own handles.

Sounds like something Vince Goodrum, CSN, MFT, HPP, CEO, would do.

Agreed. I think the v handle would be a waste.

Though, I really like the Rogue tricep pushdown attachment (1st picture).

Try the MAG, you may love it. Specially if elbow injuries. (Life saver for me).
Though you are young, get to my age, and years training (41), this shit is appreciated.

The various M.A.G. handles are the best I have ever used. You will never use a conventional pulldown bar again.

Even at my age, I have felt it in the joints for quite some time.

When my palms face each other during rowing or pressing movements it feels the most natural and I have zero joint pain. The moment I change to palms up or down I start to feel it in my elbow and wrist joints and even shoulders.

Because of the tear I have in tennis elbow tendon, I mainly do palms facing (parallel) these days. Basil's "Supinator Machine" would not be in my life at this point.

I bench w/ a multi-grip bar (football bar, swiss bar, etc), I use the MAG bar Medium grip (parallel grip), Hammer curls for Bi's, etc. The natural feeling of the MAG's are awesome, even the way they sit in your hand.
And w/ the arch in the bar, you can pull your lats back further at the bottom of the movement, and squeeze/hold. Works well for seated cable rows also.

Hmm, interesting. For me, I just have the basic tendinitis that starts in my elbows and goes down to my forearm. When it acts up, it bothers me on most exercises.  :-\ :-\
