The best lie he's got going for him is that he's not giving up his tax infor cause he's "under audit". Even though the IRS chief has said that too isn't true, at least it's buying him some time.

On Friday, President Trump dug up an old complaint about his quickly disgraced national security adviser, tweeting that "it now seems the General Flynn was under investigation long before was common knowledge" and questioning why he wasn't told about it. Except it's public knowledge that Obama fired Flynn, and that he warned Trump against bringing him back on.

I'll preface this by saying just today (5/18/19) it appears he was under investigation even longer than originally thought. He claimed no one told him that Flynn was "under investigation," not that he wasn't warned about anything else relevant to Flynn. Things like him being terminated for his Russian contact. That is the point. Perhaps he didn't know about the "investigation" (properly worded), but he did know he was fired and why. If Obama disliked him because of his views on the his Iran policy that had no bearing on his getting fired for Russian contact. So it's meaningless what the chit-chat was about him in the White House.

After Mr. Flynn’s dismissal, Mr. Trump tried to get James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, to drop the investigation — an act that some legal experts say is grounds for an investigation of Mr. Trump for possible obstruction of justice. He fired Mr. Comey on May 9
Is there an explanation I'm not thinking of? I don't see any logical reason why Trump would rehire a member of the opposing party that had a questionable record and then demand an investigation involving him (Flynn) be closed. Those don't sound like innocent coincidences.
