Quest - Doughnut House Experience
« on: May 18, 2019, 05:25:01 PM »

Had a most interesting time at the Quest 'Doughnut' House Experience.  Quest Nutrition invited their friends and influencers to celebrate the new 'doughnut' flavor for their bars at a nice big house up in Beverly Hills. They completely decked out the house in their 'doughnut' theme, complete with pictures on the walls, curtains, big doughnuts in the bathtub (yes, you can get it), pillows, Quest pizza, fun games, and training events with Eric the Trainer, Sumo Dan, Erik Bryant and Nick Papadakis.

Took my son with me to it, as afterwards headed to Hollywood for entertainment (and also this evening, they are having the premiere of Godzilla)

I'm a huge "protein bar" enthusiast, and I'm here to tell you Quest bars suck.

-Terrible taste. That's completely unacceptable in today's bar market. So many bars taste great.

-Below average protein/carbs/fat ratios.

-Way over priced.

Ever see what's in a Quest Nutrition Bar?

Shit is absolutely disgusting. Horrible ingredients. Extremely unhealthy. Might as well drink poison.

They interviewed six nutrition experts and every one of them said they would not recommend Quest Nutrition Bars.

You might wanna try one of those PowerSauce bars that Homer used to bulk up and climb the Murderhorn...

"Powersauce is an energy bar that is supposed to include 6 types of apples. The bars are actually made from apple cores and old Chinese newspapers, not even properly shredded ones as Homer is able to read an article in one of his bars about Deng Xiao-Ping.

Rainier Wolfcastle was the mascot for Powersauce."

I love a good protein bar. Bring them in the car on way to work after gym since I'm normally starving at that point.
Didnt like the Quest. I like the Clif bars and Clif Builders, the terrible ones normally taste good (Robert Irvine, Muscle Sandwich) but these terrible ones dont even taste good (Quest).

I personally think quest is good.

Had one last night. I believe it was PB and chocolate. Was great.

A true low carb option with usually less than 5 net carbs for when I’m dieting.

The “one” bars are currently the tastiest though.

Quest Bars dropped off in taste for a while, but the last ones I picked up where actually better.  Especially the Choc Chip Cookie Dough.  Was good for when we were hiking to the top of the mountain.  Better than some of these other bars out there.

It takes so little to bribe people in bodybuilding. An invite to a lame party and a disgusting protein bar is pretty much all it takes to secure an endorsement.

I know!  To go and have some fun at a 9 million dollar house with cool people, free food, drinks and bars, and a beautiful view on a nice Saturday with my son instead of staying home, bribe me please!  But yes, to be fair, we do sell over 10,000 boxes of Quest bars a month to various customers! Hopefully more soon!  Also, this wasn't a bodybuilding event, but more of a place where people who enjoy Quest Bars and their influencers got to get together.  The big bodybuilding event was in NY, and next Saturday, here in California!

Also, Ron - I was wondering:

Did you say that your company was once sued, and WON, but could not counter-sue to be reimbursed for legal expenses, as the judge deemed the case to be reasonable?

I'm not sure if you have changed companies since that time - this was likely over a decade ago now. A friend of mine came to me with some legal troubles, and I recall that case, and meant to ask you.

Forgive me if this is the wrong place - you mentioned your business, and I was reminded to ask you.

Also, and again my memory could be wrong here, but is the owner of QUEST Nutrition also named Ron? Was the owner involved with this event?

Hence why they have 15 flavors - everyone enjoys a different flavor.  They are not chocolate coated like others, they are not 'all natural' with a 3 months shelf life, but they are good when you want a bar that you know is correct.   And while you may not like them, many do.  Why we have choices :)

One of the principle owners is named Ron Penna, who is married to Shannon (Yorton) was her original last name? Sound familiar. Because her dad, Chet, was the only bodybuilder to beat Arnold.  Ron Penna is a very cool person. In all the times I have met him, he was respectful, and a hard worker. As for lawsuits, they suck.  You have lawyers looking to make any form of money, not from winning the lawsuit, but from settling and lawyer fees.  They know the rules better than many hard working, and take advantage. Instead of helping you out and trying to make it better, they sue for various reasons meant to get money from you.  We did fight a lawsuit once, but it costs money to fight it, even if you win.  If the judge find out 1% at fault, you can't get anything back.  So even if you copy another companies advertising on your site or instagram, they can go after you for 'false advertising', or 'harmful to someone's else company because of an advantage of an ingredient', or many other reasons.  I wish more lawyers would try and help people or business' out there that truly do not want to hurt others, but sometimes don't know about a new law, or regulation, or a myriad of other things. I think they are called 'troll lawyers'.  I don't make anything from this website, I actually put more time and money sometimes into it, but i still enjoy the people I meet, the expos, bodybuilding, and of course, photography.  Everyone has a story, a good picture, not everyone you see or hear about are assholes, or arrogant. They are just like other people, personas, who have other lives and problems and people who care.

Quest bars are shit and not healthy for you.

You cannot even debate that they are healthy. There is nothing about them that is healthy. Pure garbage.

Tried the Blueberry Crunch one (or similar) very good.
Felt huger by the time I left "The Walmart" and got to my car as I ate it on the way. Really though, it was good, much better than Quest.
