Russian weightlifter suffers a gruesome injury when his right leg snaps as he tries to squat 550 pounds.Yaroslav Radashkevich, 20, suffered a compound fracture of his tibia during the doomed lift at the Eurasian Weightlifting Championship in Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East, according to the New Zealand Herald.Radashkevich lowers himself with the barbell resting on his shoulders with five spotters ready to jump in if needed. As he bends down, his right leg emits a loud snap as it crumbles under the heavy load and he goes down.Radashkevich told Russian media that he had been suffering with a leg injury for weeks before the event. “It turns out that two weeks ago my leg began to hurt badly. I thought that it was just pulled, so I did not pay attention, I just had painkillers, trained, prepared. I was also advised it would pass by itself, heal,” he said. The weightlifter suffered fractures in his tibia and fibula, and is recovering at a hospital, where he appealed for donations to help with his mounting medical bills.
His legs didn't look like the legs of someone who squats that weight regularly...
