I thought he should have placed 2nd in 1983. He was way better than Zane and Makkaway.  I actually preferred his physique over Bannout. He had a much fuller look but Samir had better condition especially from the back.

^ I talked to Samir about that in 2010! He said he felt Bertil was good enough for 3rd.

2nd, 3rd...hmm. Debatable. Doubtful he should have beaten Samir though, which I see you agree with!

Not sure why Samir was 5th...in Joe Meeko's 1984 Mr. America win, it was said that a bodybuilder's hair and even teeth were judged. In the Death and the Bodybuilder video [YouTube], a former NABBA Europe judge [Ivan something? Passed away in 2005 or 2007, I believe] said bodybuilders were judged based on conduct [???], and that Bertil Fox was...well...a bit of a jerk. Something obvious now.
