I can tell you that you are absolutely full of shit. You maybe saw the movie “The Big Short” and maybe have read a few articles but short term trading doesn’t work “checking CNBC a few times a day” or reading periodicals. It’s a FULL TIME job - and even then it’s very difficult.

I'd have CNBC on nearly 24-7. I don't get how dunces like you believe things are so hard to do. How hard is it to have someone open an account with interactive brokers, or even E-Trade or Fidelity (IB had the lowest commission back then) and I make 1-2 calls/day to tell her what to buy/sell/short/etc..?? Every phonecall would cost $12-14 because it was long distance across state lines even though she lived 15mins away, switching to a "Magic jack" using a local # was something a lot of ppl did to cut the cost of phonecalls by over 50%. With Every trade I'd have to consider the cost of phone calls along with commissions coming and going. I had all day, everyday to pay attention to the market and catch the middle 3% of a 5% pop in a stock. Rarely did we hold a stock more than a day, except for high yeild dividend stocks/etfs/reits. Reason I didn't start trading again when I got out and started making enough money to open an account was precisely because I didn't have time to pay attention 24-7 & if you can't pay attention all day to what's going on, and think you're gonna turn a profit by passively trading you're just gonna passively throw away all your money.
