Avocado toast and financial ruin
« on: June 12, 2019, 05:56:53 AM »
Strange, strange ....

I eat it nearly every breakfast of the week. I buy avocados at five bucks for three.

How are people making the claim that such a food item is standing in their way of home ownership?
One avocado
Two slices of bread
Salt
A squeeze of lime, lemon, or orange juice

Or is it yet another way for the boomer to diss millennials?

It is both
yet another way for the boomer to diss millennials

as well as an example of poor spending habits by young people.  Making avocado toast at home is one thing but it can cost upwards of $10 in some cities.  Spending that much on such a simple meal everyday is not the way for a young person to accumulate wealth IMO

You're forgetting the Siracha Salt.

Costs more than saffron.

Saffron is expensive but only a pinch is needed for the meals I make with it.

I have it with 3 eggs or a cup of egg whites and turkey bacon. I estimate this breakfast costs me three-plus bucks considering I shop at Aldi and Trader Joe’s.

Contrary to popular belief some millennials living in hipster towns make a lot of dough, with some of them being able to afford rip-off restaurant meals.

Ten bucks is some markup.

He's just handing them $5.  I don't think anyone is forcefully shoving the avocados up his ass.
