Troy Alves Had a Boring Physique.

I wish my physique was that "boring".

I heard from an industry diet coach that Troy could have put on around 15-lb more lean muscle IF he was willing to do what it takes, gear-wise. But he was not. Good for him, if true.

PS - Lol @ Chris Cormier being criticized for having a boring physique too.

Agreed. I'm glad he didn't push the gear to get as big as possible. He will be 53 in September, and I believe he has a 33-year-old daughter and 13-year-old daughter. I think his father passed away from cancer at some point in the past decade.

Maybe that gave him some pause for thought regarding the extremes of professional bodybuilding.

He was almost 47 for his last pro win - I had forgotten what the weight class was at the time. It had just been bumped up to 212-lb, from 202-lb. I believe Troy competed at upwards of 225-lb before, so I was happy he made weight:

Hes 52..... i remember thinking he was old 10/12 years ago and now Im thinking hes only 52.

Lol, same here. When he turned 40 just prior to me turning 25, I thought that. Now at 37, I'm on the same page as you.

I do remember thinking at 23 that 40 was just around the corner...but my perception of aging from 9 to 23, and 23 to 37 were both roughly the same.

Kind of a boring story-
Troy must live near me-I was walking out of my CPA's office a few weeks back and he was walking in. Its the second time I've seen him around here.
He was walking with an awful limp, and kind of looked broken down. Not sure if he recently had a procedure/surgery, but definitely looked and moved as if he was an old man...

I remember training at golds mid 90s when he was training with Devers, they were both middleweights from memory then. Both training for the USAs in long beach.Always had good shape and build just never got that wow factor, but that takes mgs and Ius along with genetics, plenty of stood on the edge of that cliff looked over and not jumped. Usually ones with far better genetics than the ones who do.

How old is he ? Is he still in shape ?
Great physique.  I think he was boring as a person lacked charisma ...... Not his body.
