I never even brought up powerlifting and could care less about it so I’m not sure why you are trying to school me on the rules of the sport.  I said he wouldn’t get 12 reps if he was doing them legit.  To me(and most people), legit means lowering the weight to your chest without bouncing it and then pushing it all the way back up.  He wouldn’t get 12 reps if he did that in my opinion.

Bro when you're saying if he did them legit you're making it sound like gym lifts have "rules". Of course he doesn't get the same number if he does a pause at the bottom and top, however the technique displayed on the video would be acceptable for the NFL combine bench press.

He wouldn't have gotten 10 reps without the elbow wraps. He wouldn't bench 365 without steroids. We all know this, it doesn't need to be said.

You're a smart dude and a valuable poster here, I found your post odd because you were focused on his rep technique (which was fine, he touched his chest every rep and pressed it up) and not his use of elbow compression wraps. He might as well have been using a SlingShot and bench shirt.

I apologize for attacking you btw.

25 at 350 and 21 at 250 ohearn is the winner.

Ohearns hair piece gives him the extra strength needed for the additional reps

Dude, no apology needed.  We all give each other crap around here.  ;D.  I guess when I say legit I have an idea in my head that everyone is thinking the exact same thing as me, which I shouldn’t.  I also don’t know much about elbow wraps as I’ve never used them and had no idea that gives the boost that it does.

Yes impressive! And O'Hearn is approaching 50. Amazingly strong. This was the first time Thor did reverse grips though lol. So if he focused on benching and this exercise he would probably get to 30 or 40 reps. Benchpress is not his strongest lift and his long arms make it more difficult. Amazing that a 6'-9" dude can press that much. Brian Shaw also has a 500 lbs plus bench and has never really specialized in the lift. I don't think Thor and Shaw would ever be as strong as Eddie Hall in the bench or shoulder press. Thor might match Eddie with deadlift eventually if his health holds up. I don't think Shaw would ever get to a 500 kg deadlift. Even though I would like to see him get it. Jerry Pritchett might. I am not sure Benedikt Magnusson will do it but you never know. I think past 500 kg the deadlifts will become dangerous and someone is going to get hurt onstage.

It was sad to see JF Caron hurt his hamstrings at the Arnold this year. He did well at World's though. Crazy to think the strongest Canadian ever was beaten by Matteusz from Poland. Especially given that Matteusz is a full TEN years younger. He's so strong it doesn't make sense. He also hit an 879-lb deadlift at the Arnold, and deadlift is his WEAKEST lift.

Caron looks like a buddy of mine - just bigger lol!

Matteusz will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. He has age on his side and is tall also - 6-5" I believe. It will be interesting to see.

I like Eddie and Brian Shaw the most of all the recent strongmen. Eddie really lit up the strongman scene with his larger than life personality. I only started following him this year after he retired. But watching his lifting videos and antics is entertaining. I like the 2014 contest where he deadlifted 435 kg and it slips out of his hands. He then tries again and lifts it and beckons the hot reporter Caroline Pearce to come over and interview him while he has the bar in his hands. Never seen that before.

435 kg lifts start at 7:00

Eddie Hall, at his biggest and strongest, is beyond freakish.

How on earth did he go from a 1026-lb deadlift to 1100-lb in the span of a year or less? You never see world records broken by margins like that.

He saw a psychiatrist which helped him. He basically envisioned one of his kids under a car and that helped him lift it.

Wow! Very interesting.

There was a 900-lb deadlifter on YouTube who envisioned his deadlift bringing his deceased brother back to life by deadlifting it.

The blonde probably got wet after interviewing Eddie holding the bar. She lives in USA now.

Glen Chabot did a triple with 650 back at our old gym in Springfield Mass.

Did 722 at the Arnold Classic....so I`ve seen better benching but very fucking impressive.

I also saw bodybuilders Ben White and Johnnie Jackson do over 20 reps with 315 in Rochester N.Y.

That's pretty good. My max was 315x8, weighing 190-lb.

I think Eric Spoto did 315x43 on one of Palumbo's Bros vs. Pros.

That’s fantastic. Drug-free?

Thank you! Thank you very much for that nice compliment.

Mine was, yes. All my max lifts were drug-free. My best *physique* was on minimal gear.

This leads me to what I have concluded:

There are biological reasons to be strong, and we can closer to our maximum potential off gear than we can in bodybuilding.

Muscle is metabolically-active tissue, and expensive to carry. There is no strong evolutionary reason to be muscular, whereas there is a good reason for men to be strong.

So I can get quite strong naturally - but my muscles will only get so big. Meanwhile, a month of minimal gear, and I would be more muscular than I can ever get naturally, no matter how hard I train, and no matter how well I eat.

I simply can't maintain the nitrogen balance necessary to be very muscular as a natural - but I get pretty strong for my size.

My videos are on my mattcanning1 Facebook account [I'm currently banned for two more weeks for defending Hitler again].

I didn't get the 315x8 video on camera...but I have a 315x6 video up, at a similar body weight, if not a bit lower than 190.

That's very decent at 190 lbs Matt! Was this in a smith machine or free weight?
