NOW Foods, Whey Isolate, 10lb bags off amazon.

They have very high quality control, and great prices.

I go through about one tub a year.  I only use Beverly.  In the past I used nearly every kind out there and Beverly just blows them all away.   The only protein powder that doesn't give me bloat and gas.  However, about 6 years ago I stopped drinking the protein powder.  When I use it now, I either use it to make some chilled late night pudding to fool my body when I have a carb craving or for making protein bars to take with me when I fly out on gigs.  I do not like the food served on air planes very much and when flying to Asia or any other place that is over 7 hours I want a bit cleaner food so I am not at the mercy of that crap.  (literally)  So I make up protein bars to take with me for the bulk of my flight calories.

One thing to look into is MuscleEgg.  That is fantastic.  Flavored egg whites.  The chocolate tastes just like a YooHoo drink.  But they are about $50 a pop for 16 servings.   I get 32 ounce cartons from the restaurant supply distributor here for $2.09 a carton.  1 cup of that and 1/2 cup of low fat (4 grams) low carb (6 grams) and 12 grams protein is much cheaper and tastes exactly the same.  Gives you 37 grams of quality protein too.  Shop around and you can make your own MuscleEggs for less than $1.20 a serving.  MuscleEgg is about $3.50 a serving if you use the chocolate milk with it.  Otherwise you can get some flavored Skinny Syrup flavoring with 0 carbs, 0 cholestrol, 0 sugars, 0 calories and use a teaspoon of that stuff in the egg whites to flavor it.  The salty carmel, cinnamon vanilla, mint chocolate, and root beer syrups mix awesome and taste great.

$10/lb

always rated good

They have an outside company come in a check, test, and certify their factory, manufacturing process, and finished products for quality.

Since there is no regulation of supplements, who knows what's in the stuff? Yes, zero regulation. Guys think there is a government agency analyzing this stuff.  I am extremely sensitive to lactose as I got older. I get the runs and a vicious stomach ache. Tired of whey isolates saying they are lactose free. They are not.

Having said that I have been using protein powder for over 40 years. Whey concentrate, whey isolate, egg powder, soy, vegetable protein and a few I missed. Without a doubt the absolutely highest quality protein I have tried is Fairlife bottles of protein sold at BJ's.  Each little container of milk based truly lactose free protein is 30 grams.  They all claim how good they taste. This one has no competition in the taste department.  It actually tastes like you went to a fine ice cream parlor and asked for a shake. My wife is a couch potato and she keeps stealing my protein bottles because they taste so good. Think she would be doing this making a shake with any brand of whey protein isolate powder? They taste like crap. I have no vested interest in this stuff financially.

I haven't settled on one company.  Not only do I get free samples, the individual donors also reimburse me for my time and travel, and if you just gulp it down, you only have the aftertaste to deal with...

nothing sexual about any of that  ;)
