Joseph Parker vs. Alex Leapai (6/29/19)

Joseph Parker vs. Alex Leapai (6/29/19)

It is tonight in Rhode Island.

As we boxing fans know, Parker is the only man to defeat current heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr.

As usual, I'll put up the weigh in.

Heavyweight Fight – 12 Rounds

Joseph Parker: 241.5 lbs.
Alex Leapai: 254.2 lbs.

We are going to need some links tonight.

------------------------------------------------

Joseph Parker will fight for the first time under the Matchroom Boxing USA banner and make his debut on DAZN when he faces Alex Leapai at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Parker (25-2 19 KOs) got back to his winning ways in December with a third-round KO victory over Alexander Flores. The win followed two losses, as Parker suffered back-to-back unanimous decision defeats to Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte earlier in 2018.

For Parker, the mission is clear - get back to world heavyweight title contention. Already, the 27-year-old New Zealand boxer feels as good as he has in recent memory.

"Over the past six years of being a professional, this is the first time that I've come into camp at a good weight," said Parker in an official Matchroom Boxing press release. "I'm enjoying camp more as a result I think, because we're working more on skills and technique rather than focusing on losing weight. I feel faster, I feel everything is clicking, less injuries and everything is on track.

Leapai (32-7-4 26 KOs), who spent part of his childhood in New Zealand, vows to pull off a similar upset to Andy Ruiz Jr. defeating Anthony Joshua earlier this month.

"I am the Samoan Andy Ruiz - the guy everyone writes off," said Leapai. "This will be the second massive upset this year because Parker is getting sparked. Then I'm going to take Andy's Snickers off him!"

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn can't wait.

"This is going to be an exciting fight between two big punchers with plenty of pride on the line," Hearn said. "For Joe, it's about looking good and making a statement to the division that he is ready to try and reclaim his world title. For Alex, it's a shot to nothing to put himself right back in the mix. He's talking a great game, but we expect a show-stopping performance from Joseph Parker in Providence on June 29."

Parker will win easy. Lepai is a journeyman/ fringe contender. If I remember correctly parker had whyte in serious trouble and he held his own against joshua.

ha....oh the irony of it all...Parker and his “team” pulled out of the derick chesora fight claiming because they didn’t have enough time (training camp time) too prepare, and now that Parker has gotten himself nice and fighting fit....Alex Leapai on just 2 WEEKS notice steps up too the mark too fight, no bullshit excuses no haggling over cash no matter he hasn’t fought properly in the last 2 years...he will fight.

Predictably he will lose (that much Kevin Barry and that little fuck tard Higgins know) how much “credibility” do they expect over a fit young 26 year old beating a 40 year old with heavy hands who hasn’t had a proper fight in @ least 2 years or more.

People think Leapai has a “punchers chance”...no he doesn’t...@ 33-34 he’d have a punchers chance and that would be if he was consistently training and fighting too boot, I’ll laugh my head off if Alex “pulls” a Andy Ruiz on Parker...but @ 39-40 inactivity, a 2 week “training camp” etc etc...he will be out of there in under 4.

Thanks for the back info on Leapai
It’s a bit of a non fight then really - Just being hyped up
I won’t bother watching - Leapai is just the Fall Guy
And Realistically shouldn’t last 2/3 Rounds.

yup don’t get me wrong I like the under dogs chances as much as anyone it’s just this particular situation is laughable...@ the end of the day as much as some things change alot more stays the same the young, hungry guy fit and ready too sharpen his tools gets feed a worn tired old sacrificial lamb for slaughter and the public buy it...the “punches chance” angle that is...good luck too the guy.

Anybody finding any free links?

I'm sick of these places that offer free sign up, but then they want your credit card information.

Like I'm going to give these fools my Amex, Visa or MC. ::)

They are getting ready to start.

LOL.

This isn't the main event?

The Demetrius Andrade vs. Maciej Sulecki, 12 rounds, for Andrade's WBO middleweight title is.

Parker has won first two rounds, but Leapai is staying right there.

His stamina will be the problem.

Stupid referee steps in and stops it in the 10th.

Boxing is a fucking joke.

If the corner doesn't stop it, the referee should stay out of it.

Announcers are f-a-g-s. This isn't ballet, douchebags. ::)

Might as well watch the main event.

I'm bouncing back and forth between UFC and DAZN Boxing.  Not much interest in the Showtime fights.
