At the risk of polluting the board with detritus that was being safely contained in another thread, I did want to get the opinion of some kindhearted and moral bros who likely stopped keeping up.

I will try to lay this out as plainly and accurately as possible, and if it turns out that my opinion is different from the popular opinion of the board, I'll just drop the issue  and move on. Actually, maybe I'll just change my avatar, because I'm clearly just out of the loop.

If an adult gets a 13 year old drunk or high and has sex with her is one thing. If a 13 year old  invites a 22 year old to smoke pot at her place and they have consensual sex that's another thing. They are not morally equivalent.

I honestly don't see one as "better" than the other . Honestly, if one of my early 20s cousins or nephews told me they slept with a 13 year old, I definitely wouldn't feel better about it if he explained that it was her idea and they were her drugs.

My opposition to a 13 year old sleeping with a legal adult doesn't even factor in drug or alcohol use, one way or the other. It does factor in the idea that the child might not even need that much convincing, though.

 When I read this quote earlier today, I did struggle to look at it with a balanced perspective, but reflecting on it hours later, it's seeming even stranger than it did at first. But maybe I'm out of step. If that's the case, then sobeit.

When I first read the whole Pellius and 13 year old girl thread I was disgusted and alarmed at what he was saying. Truthfully, he has grown on me and I enjoy the vast majority of his posts, and he has tried to clarify his position but you are right in this instance. As I get older the age of the women I want to have sex with have kept match. Any man over the age of 18 that would have sex with a 13 year old is suspect in my book. The legal age in Canada is 16. Prior to the May 2008 change under the Harper government, it was 14.

In 2007, when I was 25, I was with a girl slightly taller than me who was turning 19 that weekend.

Pay attention: Both are wrong. But one getting a girl drunk so she is more unaware of her actions, surrounding and what's happening is rape.

A girl, and this actually happened, invited the guy to her room when her mom was away to smoke pot, and they had consensual sex (yes, just like a 13-year-old can consent to another 13-year-old they can also consent to a 22-year-old, just like they consented to get married and have kids for most of human history when people didn't live that long). You should rephrase the question. My point is that I don't feel they are morally equivalent. Both are wrong, one is worse than the other. There are gradations of evil.
If I'm at McD ordering my QP with cheese and the cashier gives me back $3 in change but one of those dollars was a ten dollar bill. If I keep it, that's stealing. If I bilk a senior out of there life savings that is also stealing. But it is far worse than the $10 I kept in extra change.

So to be fair and express what I meant by that statement, it should be asked are they morally equivalent. If it was your daughter and you found out someone got her drunk and had sex with her (remember those instances where guys would spike a women's drink so they could take advantage of her?) versus your daughter inviting someone to her room to smoke pot and then had sex with him. What would bother you more?

The thing is , throughout these different threads, you keep saying  "Well, this is what I actually meant, this is out of context, this, this and that" so the point of this thread was to remove as much bias and provide as much relevant context as possible.  I don't think there's anything unfair or cherry picked about my opening post in this thread. It was an honest attempt to convey what you said  and what I believe you meant, and I believe it did so accurately.

It's just a very odd line of thinking. You keep using the example of drinking/getting high and in this last post, you specifically use the example of spiking a drink. But the thing is,  spiking a woman's drink is legally considered sexual assault regardless of age.  It's wrong if a guy spikes a teenager's drink, but it's also wrong if he spikes a 30-year old woman's drink.
