Goodmorrow,
The state of NY (The one I live in, I do not, repeat do not live in California) is going to be raising their minor age to 18 next year. 17 year olds are now minors where as the law was 16. Just the other day there was a father and uncle looking for his daughter who was missing for two days. He found her with her boyfriend who is 17 years of age along with around 12 other 16 to 17 year olds. The father grabbed his daughter but the mob of teens surrounded them. The father pulled a baseball bat and slugged the one teen in the face. The uncle and father pulled away all the while their cars being kicked and spit on by the mob. Charges are pending against the father.
The daughter, she's 14.
When the police get calls on this they are very scared themselves. I interviewed one and he said there is nothing they can do. The teens can harass, yell, cuss, even throw rocks at you as long as you are not hurt "too bad" nothing will happen to them. He stated he could throw them in the back of a patrol car but then the parents get up "all in their faces" because they are just as bad as the kids.
So, now that NY is going to be raising the minor age (because they feel that when younger "kids" are in jail they model their behavior after the "real" criminals in prision) What happens in the case of a 17 year old in college getting raped by an 18 year old MINOR? That was a question a police officer asked me while talking to another one, and him just shaking his head saying "I'm lost and so are others on the force with this one".
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
