What standards are you talking about? All I did was ask questions that show how inherently unreliable race-based statistics can be, particularly as they relate to IQ.
I always say it's hard to read tone in writing. If you ever talked to me in person you'd know I'm neither pompous nor condescending. I'm actually one of the humblest persons you will meet. But I do know that very often when people have long-held beliefs challenged that they take it personally, regardless of the other person's tone. None of this is personal for me. Can you see how problematic it is to talk about mixed race people in this context? So Obama is black because he self-identifies as black?? How is that different from a transgendered man self-identifying as a woman?
And how does Obama's genetic makeup make him more black than white? Do you know who his parents were?
I know someone who is half black and half Palauan. He married a half Palestinian, half white woman and had kids. How do we label those kids when it comes to race-based statistics? (Rhetorical question)
We definitely have an entire political party that tries to make race-based policy, but it's wrong. And unreliable.
Yes we all make generalizations. We all have what I think is an innate need to label everyone we meet (e.g., man, woman, race, smart, dumb, rich, poor, etc.). For example, it confuses people when they look at someone and cannot immediately identify what that person's ethnic background is.
But one of the questions is, what do you (or anyone else) do with these statistics? What exactly is the purpose?
