Considering the first two movies were hyper masculine and loved by all men across the world, what's the logic in having a female-laden cast? It would be like remaking Pride and Prejudice but relegating the female characters to sideshows. All that happens is you lose your core audience.
Killing off John Connor immediately is unforgivable. The movie deserves to tank for that alone. Replacing him with a 5ft, 100lb Mexican woman is laughable. Are audiences meant to believe that a tiny chick will be leading human resistance forces in a dystopian future? If anything, traditional gender roles would likely become more reinforced under such harsh circumstances.

An aging Terminator who is now forming complex human relationships, raising families and holding down a normal blue collar job is just beyond retarded. Just make it stop already.

I think the film would have struggled even if it were good and tried to be faithful to the original two. Audiences just aren't interested in more Terminator movies and believe it truly ended after the second one. Of course, trying to make it "woke" just guaranteed it's failure.

In all fairness to Arnold, he is probably happy just to have a movie in the theaters. The Arnold of 1984-1991 would have never done a movie this soft. But now, he is in his early seventies. He probably doesn’t want to feel the pressure of having to live up to his classic movies. And maybe he was glad to see Linda Hamilton have another payday.

That said; I would not spend a penny on that weak ass movie.
