A lot of young people don't even realize that Carl Sagan was just the name Alan Alda gave to the scientist character he played on Quincy. Hawkeye was Alda's supporting character on Buck Rogers but they shortened it to Hawk when he joined Spencer For Hire with Robert Urine (who famously killed his wife). (Urine's wife. Alda's wife is fine.)
