So after reading some more, this dude is in custody and working with a translator. And he's supposedly got permission to stay here. He's been here for 4-5 years.

When I arrived here, from Australia, I was made to do a language and integration course. There was no skipping it -my permission to stay in Germany was contingent upon me attending the course and passing the language test.

Which is fine. It should be expected.

This guy spends at least 4 years here and needs a translator. Makes you wonder whether these guys are also required to attend mandatory language classes. If they're not, I'd like to know why not.
