Guy had a gun and a knife. Gave victims a choice. Honestly if you couldn't get away and sicko gave you one choice, one shot or one stab with a really big machete type knife, which would you choose? The obvious answer would be one stab but with a slashing motion it could actually be worse than a gunshot. Gunshot could miss vital organs but a knife just rips everything to hell. Obviously multiple stabs/shots its over, but if a sick fuck allowed you one choice for a one time deal as a sick game, which would you choose? ONE shot with small caliber gun or ONE stab/slash with a bad ass Rambo knife? Depends on body location I guess. To the body, I think I'd choose one shot from a small caliber gun frankly. A knife could tear major arteries beyond repair. But to the head I'd take the knife. A gunshot to the head is just too much. The neck I would choose the gun.

A man who was "full of anger" went on a two-hour stabbing and robbery rampage in Southern California, killing four people and wounding two others, authorities said Wednesday.

The 33-year-old Garden Grove man was taken into custody after he came out of a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana, southeast of Los Angeles, and dropped a knife along with a handgun that he had taken from a guard, police said.

The violence appeared to be random and the only known motives seem to be "robbery, hate, homicide," Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said at a news conference.

he managed to kill 9 people and injure another 14 in 30 seconds

It's hard to imagine the cops being able to react any faster than they did and since drum magazines are commonly used in hunting (at least according to a Republican Senator I saw on TV last night) there is no way we can get rid of those so this shooting event should be considered a "success" by Republicans and the NRA in spite of the obvious carnage.

I think that's a responsible choice.  Using a gun for self defense is a specialized skill.  You have to be trained, otherwise you could end up doing more harm with it than good.
