Vince Mcmahon tried this with WBF and paid a lot more prize money and brought major sponsors and high production value. We saw how that turned out. Nothing will replace the Olympia. Nothing.

Here's my honest/humble opinion and I know I am going heavily against the grain here..

I think the IFBB Mr. Olympia is outdated and boring. Today, people want better production value and a lot more for their money. The days of overly drugged up guys on stage dancing to sensual music while douched in baby oil to then be solely judged by a panel of older men is slowly falling to the wayside. Mainstream isn't attracted to that shit and if it's not, there goes the largest stream of revenue. The niche market that the Mr. Olympia caters to just isn't big enough. Throughout the country, you very rarely see the old school bodybuilders at every local gym with the 2-gallon water jug and the incessant need to pose in front of every mirror. Mainstream doesn't like it because it quite frankly doesn't look good on magazine covers, instead it conveys the message that with enough hormones pumped into your system and a little bit of weight lifting, you too can look like a pharmaceutical experiment. Frankly, I hear less and less men at the gyms wanting to look like a Shawn Rhodden or Ramy, because women don't like that look, guys like Ryan Reynolds are more along the lines of what women like. The only people that find these mass monsters attractive are unfortunately other straight guys and to a lesser extent (surprise surprise) gay men. I know some of you will argue that the Rock is pretty massive compared to Reynolds and women like him a lot. Yes, but he is also a pretty good looking face (nice facial features), a shitload of charisma and swag, plus most importantly money and a lot of it. Whereas most IFBB pros have as much charisma as a dirty doorknob.

I think it's time the IFBB bring in new and more exciting blood to help them sail into the next decade. Because if not, I also see the Mr. Olympia going the same direction as the Ms. Olympia contest. People want a true picture of health and sexuality when they see these "athletes". The biggest I think they should have ever been allowed to get was the size of IFBB pros back in the early 70's. Today, these guys frankly look hideous.

If this is a true venture, I see nothing less than the Rock's show being the best show. That guy is insanely talented and failure is not an option towards whatever he works at. He's mere star power (Hollywood + WWe) alone will bring millions of new fans. Plus, these are very different times than the 70's - 90's. People in general care less about the subculture the Olympia is based upon. It's just not as exciting as it once was based on the allure these IFBB pros had. There isn't an Arnold anymore and there clearly will never be another. Also, there was always a sense of wonder as to how these guys got so big, but today, we know too damn well how they are doing it, literally down to the dose of every substance they use. And if drug/dosing details weren't enough, you now realize more than ever that many of these pros are lazy as fuck and barely put any real hard work into their bodybuilding (I know a handful of top IFBB pros that are fucking slackers, eat junk throughout most of the year and only put in real hard work + diet during the last 1-2 months). Many rely so heavily on the drugs, that actual weightlifting and dieting takes a backseat due to what they already take.

No offense OMR but its already been established on this very site that bodybuilding  comes down to training and diet. Drugs are used but they arent as important as the hard work and dedication.

Just be careful when you try to take bodybuilding mainstream. Or you can get this onstage. This is IN competition WBF, not guest posing.

Haha that's a good one brother.

My view, for what it's worth, is that professional bodybuilding comes down to:

Drugs (40%) + Genetics (30%) + Exercise (10%) + Diet (20%)

Levrone is a great example. For decades he worked out the last 1-2 months before a show and practically would overdose on the drugs, but with his great genetics and great receptors for steroids, he would come in and crush the guys that would live in the gym (Branch Warren types with great dedication but terrible genetics).

BOMZ, I think that you are totally incorrect about Jim Manion's leverage/control, within the IFBB, but it would interesting if you were correct and if Dwayne decided to make it a non-ifbb event.

I believe that JIM, and Jim alone, is in complete and total control and will remain so until he retires ...... unless, for some unknown reason, he  had serious problems with Mr. Pecker who owns the IFBB .

And it is Jim's present intent to maintain the Olympia as the ultimate event within the IFBB family and I am sure that this has been discussed with the Rock in detail ... and that necessary arrangements have been made and agreed to.

I am unaware if any bodybuilding event or sanctioning body will ever offer a million dollar prize, but if that does occur, it will be damn interesing to watch the outcome and see how it affects the present day situation.

I'll end this by simply saying, "Don't under-estimate Jim's power within the IFBB!" ... and the Rock's power as today's top action movie star!

He might have leverage in the IFBB - I'm sure he has virtually ALL the leverage there - but he can't exercise any of that over a show the top guys are going to compete in whether it's IFBB or not. He can either let them have what they want or see the IFBB become a second rate league as the top guys and the top contest exist outside its borders.

It’s mathematically incorrect. A BB equation should involve multyplying as well. We should develop it here and make it universal. We have some nerds on this forum.

Genetic are more important than drugs. Without the right genetics, drugs mean nothing. Here is a better breakdown:

Genetics: 55%
Drugs: 40%
Diet: 2.5%
Training: 2.5%

Horrible actor. Can't remember the last time I watched one of his movies.

He's played out and overexposed.

I disagree. Genetics can certainly be the factor that allows you to win bodybuilding contests, once all else evens out amongst competitors (diet, drugs, water cutting, routind etc), but to say that without genetics drugs mean nothing is a stretch.

For instance, I know of two IFBB pros that never had genetics for good calves and they simply got implants. I know other guys that had shit for shoulders and they did the same coupled with the use of esiclene. There are tons of guys that make it very far in professional bodybuilding and clearly do not have the genes to justify going through the entire ordeal.

Phil has narrow clavicles and a small chest, but that never stopped him from winning the Mr. Olympia. Receptor affinity towards hormones might be more important than just genetics that dictate propensity to carry muscle throughout the body. Today, we can get implants for pecs, abs, delts, calves and penis.

BOMZ, No  disrespect intended here but it's apparent (to me at least) that you have no idea how today's IFBB operates .... but I will admit that  you may have a better idea of how it may be operating in the distant future .... but only if major changes within the IFBB do occur.

BUT the Rock's involvement will in no way be a major change as he will abide by the rules and regulations as well as any mutual agreement between himself and the IFBB.

In other words .... and to be more blunt ... the Rock will be working for and with Jim Manion.

And if the Rock ever does decide to promote his own bodybuilding contest without an IFBB sanction, it would most likely follow the demise of  the bodybuilding federation that was set up by that wrestling federation  feller.

But if I'm wrong .... It will be interesting to watch what happens.

I'm going to try to send you a PM regarding my thoughts on what is really going to occur . I would add those 'thoughts' here, but it would be too damn long.

So "Stand by to stand by!"

In other words, "Hurry up ... and wait!"

The Rock promised that the 2017 Olympia would be on CBS. The end result was a 15-minute YouTube video on his Seven Bucks Production channel.

NBC Sports Network was scheduled to show two 90-minute documentary-style programs on the 2014 Olympia in Oct. 2014 with the dates and times posted. The end result was both being shelved for with no explanation.

Believe this shit when you see it.

The mainstream can't handle when a ballplayer gets caught for PEDs.

How are they going to handle a contest mostly predicated on drug use, sweet potatoes, and buttsex?

A new contest or event in October next year called Athleticon in Atlanta on October 9-11, 202

Looks like the NPC and IFBB might have a contest in this event
